seller not responded to request for invoice

I put three items in my basket a few days ago and asked the seller for an invoice, to see if they would combine the postage, as they are three items which would very easily fit into one envelope and it seems to make little sense to send them separately.
No response from seller, so I requested an invoice for a 2nd time a couple of days later.
Still no response from seller and EBay are now prompting me to pay for the items.
What to do? Pay for the items, and reflect the seller's non-communication in the star ratings, or can I ask EBay to cancel the order? There doesn't appear to be the option to cancel the items, only to contact the seller, which is of little use when the seller isn't responding.

If you didn't message in advance asking for combined postage, and their listing doesn't state about combining postage, then you cannot insist on it.
Saying that, it would not hurt the seller to respond offering combined postage or saying this is not possible.
I would wait 24 more hours for a resoonse, and if they do not respond at all then pay individually for each item, and let your feedback represent their poor communication.
If they do respond saying sorry, no combined postage then fair enough.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I have purchased the items (so that I don't get flagged up as a non-paying bidder) and then immediately sent a request via EBay to cancel the order and refund my money.
I have no idea if they're obliged to do this, or if it will still count against me, but I'll certainly not be having any dealings with this seller in the future!
I sell items on EBay myself, and fwiw wouldn't dream of ignoring emails from customers, and I myself would quite happily consider any reasonable request to combine postage. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. A business seller should cancel your purchase as if they send it then you have a right to return anyway (at your own cost), a private seller is under no obligation to cancel an order.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks, seems to be a private seller.
And - quelle surprise - they haven't responded to my request to cancel the order either.
If they send the items I'll just leave appropriate feedback. If they don't let's hope I get my money back. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Somewhat harsh i must say, as its a private seller, i would not expect them to be online much, and tbh the time to ask questions about combined postage ect is before buying not after.
as someone who primarily buys , i ask beforehand , if i get no response i move on or purchase knowing i have to pay full price . Most often if i do purchase i get a refund when seller is packing up and realises i have bought multiple items, which is a nice bonus but i dont expect it.0 -

Yes, looking back I should really have asked them beforehand.
There's no excuse for not replying to a customer's message/request for an invoice, though. If I am selling items I always make sure I check my emails once a day in case someone has a query. And most people these days have a smartphone, which would mean permanent access to their emails and EBay account.
Had they got back to me and said "sorry, no", I wouldn't be quite so peeved. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You would be surprised by the amount of people I know who don't use their phones that way. I find those ,especially my generation 50s and over not only don't like the instant access a smartphone offers but consciously avoid using it. Even a few of the younger people I know don't like it.
I agree the no reply to your messages is rude and if leaving stars I would mark down for that.0 -

To be fair, I check my eBay messages/emails just before I go to bed, and frequently during the day, but on occasion I've found a message the next day with a time stamp of the previous afternoon which definitely wasn't there then...0 -
Sorry, I think you are wrong to think of leaving poor stars, especially as you went ahead and bought anyway. You have no idea of people's circumstances, and given it was half term last week it is possible the seller was otherwise engaged. They could have had an emergency - anything can happen in a seller's life, especially a private seller, and in an emergency the last thing on their mind would be ebay.0

A work colleague was having a bit of a clearout several months ago and I asked her if she had started selling again on Ebay as she had made a decent amount.
She said not and said it was too difficult to do at the moment as she didn't have time to log onto Ebay on her desktop PC every evening to see if she had any messages/sales. She did have a smartphone so I explained etc about notifications etc but I'm not sure she understood.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0
