seller not responded to request for invoice

Yes, looking back I should really have asked them beforehand.
There's no excuse for not replying to a customer's message/request for an invoice, though. If I am selling items I always make sure I check my emails once a day in case someone has a query. And most people these days have a smartphone, which would mean permanent access to their emails and EBay account.
Had they got back to me and said "sorry, no", I wouldn't be quite so peeved.
I agree. Anyone that sells online, should be aware they may be messaged and check at least once daily. If they can't be bothered to check messages or reply, whichever, maybe they can't be bothered to actually post the items out either - and there are some of that type on ebay.*Look for advice, not 'advise'*

Sorry, I think you are wrong to think of leaving poor stars, especially as you went ahead and bought anyway. You have no idea of people's circumstances, and given it was half term last week it is possible the seller was otherwise engaged. They could have had an emergency - anything can happen in a seller's life, especially a private seller, and in an emergency the last thing on their mind would be ebay.
What has half term got to do with anything?
A seller, even if private, finds the time to list something in the hope of selling it, so they should find the time to do everything associated with that choice.*Look for advice, not 'advise'*

I put three items in my basket a few days ago and asked the seller for an invoice, to see if they would combine the postage, as they are three items which would very easily fit into one envelope and it seems to make little sense to send them separately.
Did you put them in your basket or actually click on buy it now ? If they were just sat in your basket you have no obligation to buy.
I often put things in my basket and remove them at a later date.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0 -
If the item was just put into the basket, the seller wouldn't be able to send an invoice. They wouldn't even be aware that the items are there.
You need to "Buy-It-Now" (and not checkout or pay) for the seller to send an invoice.0 -
I put them in the basket and then hit 'request invoice from seller'
The sale has now been cancelled, thankfully, and I'll be wary of doing that again. It's just that whenever I've bought this kind of item before, the sellers have always combined postage as it would make little sense to send the items individually. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
