barclays basic current account

Does anybody know wether this account comes with a debit card which can be used online ?? I have put in an application and been accepted for a " barclays basic current account "

    Should be plenty, if required. Apply for the account online and they could well verify you electronically without need to produce anything.

    Oh, just noticed the council tax letter may be too old...

    just open one online, I haven't had to provide a single bit of ID or any other documents for any of the accounts I have.

    we have moved on from the 1990's you're verified electronically these days

    While electronic ID verification is certainly possible for most (and is clearly much more efficient for banks), it's unrealistic to suggest that applying online eliminates the need to produce documents, even if you happen to have been lucky on that front so far! If they decide they want to verify your ID, it doesn't make any difference if your application was made online, postal, by phone or in branch....

    OP are you a UK resident and is the passport you hold an UK one?

    If so Lloyds will open an account for you with single id if they cannot find you via electronic Id.

    Indeed, I opened Lloyds and Staring accounts without having to verify my ID. However with Nationwide I had to go into a branch with suitable ID.

    I have just opened a Barclays " Basic Current account " online

    Some sources say it provides only a cash card, but other people including barclays told me it comes with a Debit card ?
    I need a card i can use online for paypal etc

    Ok its all sorted now, just spoke to someone via the chat and they told me Cash Cards are for Savings accounts and Debit cards are with Current account.
