The long way would be to open another account with my current bank, transfer £80k, then use the switch service to close the original account. This may only work the first time though as I will need to keep the new account.
The usual recommendation on here is to open a second account with your current bank and then switch the newly-created one not the original one, using the Current Account Switching Service in order to qualify for the published switching incentives (making sure the account being switched has sufficient direct debits, etc).

    Rinse and repeat as desired....

Just as a matter of interest, if I've never been an RBS or Natwest customer before (the latter not quite true, I was around 25yrs ago very much closed now) can I open an account with each, having one won't stop opening the other and gain £100 from each.?
Am I not reading the T&C's correctly?

In another thread I was thinking about opening an HSBC account but I think I'll get knocked back for my low earnings, min £1750 pay in per month.

No you are not reading the T&C's correctly. It says third line down when you go to apply for RBS you cant get incentives from them if you have had it from Natwest.

Having a Natwest one open will not stop you having or opening a RBS one but you can only get incentive from one.

Thanks! I guess in my head it was so simple! But will apply towards end June so I don’t miss out on June’s interest being paid on direct debit criteria into BoS account. The £5000 will go into my Cov BS ISA paying 1.65%.

Just make sure you apply before July 6th.

That isn't what the terms say (my bold):
You won!!!8217;t be eligible for this offer if you!!!8217;ve already taken advantage of a cash
offer from NatWest between October 2017 and May 2018 for (i) opening a new
current account and switching to NatWest or (ii) upgrading your existing NatWest
    current account.

If you haven't taken advantage of the Natwest switching offer yet (June 2018), there is nothing in either set of terms that prevents you getting both bonuses.

Exactly, we are now in June that statement above refers to dates pre June 2018.

I suppose there's no harm in trying to open an account with both and try and gain £100 from each, it doesn't say you can't and they won't promote the fact that you can. If it shows up on their systems I've just opened an account with each and they don't like it, I'll get one knocked off, interesting.

I do like the fact that you don't need DD's and only one pay in of £1750 on each. Is this better than say applying for an HSBC for the £200, meeting the monthly pay in requirements then having to wait 12 months for the remaining £50?
  • Well Well Well i was just going to say !!!!!! cant switch as ive switched to Natwest..boo Hoo.

Logged into Natwest to check when i opened the account and theres £125 switch bonus sitting there since April..forgotten all about it...:o

You know that feeling when you find a fiver crumpled up in a jeans pocket....yes im feeling rather happy.:D:D:D:D:D
  • If I had switch to Natwest and received the £125 bonus in April, and I had close my Natwest account in May 2018.

Can I still apply RBS for £100?
    I had close Natwest account....

Noted, even i had close my Natwest account in May 2018, I received £125 from Natwest offer in April, I am not entitled for this RBS £100 offer.
