Where are the T&Cs? Specifically, are beneficiaries of Natwest's recent switching offer eligible or not?

    Edit: https://www.beta.rbs.co.uk/content/dam/royal%20bank%20of%20scotland/personal/current-accounts/documents/rbs-switching-offer-terms-may18.pdf

To confirm, people who have benefitted from the April payout are ineligible - the terms imply that people waiting for the next switching bonus are eligible though.

T&Cs are available after you've clicked to start the application. If you previously got a payout from the recent NatWest promotion you're not eligible.

    No DDs needed.
  • This seems quite simple. But probably this is a daft question, but I assume I could use one of my Bank of Scotland accounts (interest rate due to decreased), to switch to this for £100?

Why would you think you couldn't switch a BoS account?

(The answer is yes by the way).
  • Thanks! I guess in my head it was so simple! But will apply towards end June so I don’t miss out on June’s interest being paid on direct debit criteria into BoS account. The £5000 will go into my Cov BS ISA paying 1.65%.

I wouldn't wait that long, in case they pull the offer early!

If it's anything like the NatWest offer earlier this year you could select a switch date around 30 days in the future.

In your shoes I'd apply latest end of next week. Indeed, when I switched to NatWest earlier this year I missed out on a couple of quid of Nationwide interest...but that was dwarfed by the cash I got from NatWest.
  • Thanks for the advice, didn’t take that into account. For the sake of a few pounds, that’s worth doing.

Took advantage of the Natwest offer, will be missing out on this one I'm afraid.

Just as a matter of interest, if I've never been an RBS or Natwest customer before (the latter not quite true, I was around 25yrs ago very much closed now) can I open an account with each, having one won't stop opening the other and gain £100 from each.?
Am I not reading the T&C's correctly?

In another thread I was thinking about opening an HSBC account but I think I'll get knocked back for my low earnings, min £1750 pay in per month.

    Hi all,

I have a quick question regarding these deals, I have more than £85k in one bank - much more. I wish to move £80k to three other banks, but I wonder if any bank will offer an incentive for switching this amount.

I cannot use the normal switch service, else my current account will be closed - I will have the same problem, too much cash (in the new account) over the £85k guaranteed by the government.

The long way would be to open another account with my current bank, transfer £80k, then use the switch service to close the original account. This may only work the first time though as I will need to keep the new account.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.
