    My iPhone is waterproof.

If its battery dies then I can get it replaced.

I've got a portable USB charger which I can take with me if I need to and my car has a USB charger.

In previous phones I've had with removable batteries, I've never taken them out, other than to reset it, but you then have to set the date & time on power-on.

So, I can say that a removable battery is not important for me.

I was bought the iPhone battery case by a previous employer which I carry if I think I might not be able to recharge over a day, they bought it for the 6s but with a little 'surgery' it still fits and works on my iPhone 7. I think it's a better solution than some people who want to carry a spare removable lithium battery in their pocket with all the dangers that can accompany that, and the battery case is really comfortable in use as well, I just remove the leather case I have the phone in and slide the phone into the battery case.

Though I almost never have to use it, it's so easy to just top up the charge through the day now.
  • Is it just me or do most people seem to love the novelty of having a waterproof phone, yet dont bother with a £3 case to prevent it from its more likely fate of being dropped.

I don't have a case on my phone. But then again having never dropped it  I have however used it in water lots.

I've never understood why people buy really slim phones and then put a big bulky case on them.

Good point. But then I'm using one phone daliy that's now 4 and a half years old, still lasting over a day on its original (removable) battery. Maybe I'm just lucky ....

I don't tend to upgrade that often. My current phone is 7 years old and still going strong (with a newer battery). It's okay for calls and texts, but a full charge only lasts an hour when using apps (and the screen is on).

So it's always been important for me to have a phone with an easily replaceable battery.

Related to the topic of the thread - we're being sold fragile phones that we want to protect. Other than buying a lower spec 'rugged' model, I feel like I don't have much choice, other than put a cheap rubbish case around my beautiful fondleslab (Galaxy S8) - it's taken a few drops and whilst the screen resists scratches well, I think the case is worthwhile.
As I said in another thread, I'd happily take a thicker, more rugged phone, with a bigger battery in it, but they don't want to make 'fat' phones.

    Yes
So the question should be, would you like your next phone to come with a removable battery if it meant it would be bigger, thicker, heavier and not waterproof?
That would still be a yes.
