I don’t use this forum too much, but I notice most people come across as keyboard warriors the second people post anything.0 -
i thought you were supposed to tweet issues like this to them not write a long letter to the admin staff.0

I!!!8217;ll re-phrase. I do not POST much, I read a lot. My opinion has not changed, people are very quick to judge, be cynical and prove others wrong.0

OP if you have a 'medical condition' then perhaps you should use the staffed counters and not the machines. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

I was treated very poorly made to wait far longer than I should have done.
How long should you have been made to wait?
While you may have been anxious, you were not their only customer. You had to wait until someone who was able to was available to deal with it.If a bank has a problem with its machine the day before should it be allowed to use it again?
Ideally, no. The machine should have been checked if an error was reported. You don't know, however, that it wasn't and was found to be okay, or that the lady who said it was playing up yesterday was actually correct.Would you be happy if you had the same problem?
Happy? No. Understanding that sometimes things don't work as they should? Yes. Satisfied that I had got my money back and that therefore there was no major issue? Definitely.I was also virtually asked to prove j had actually deposited the notes appalling .
You were virtually asked?
Why is it wrong that you should have to demonstrate to some reasonable level that this was actually your money, rather than you had thought this to be a great chance to defraud the bank? It seems entirely reasonable to me that they asked you to prove your identity so as to tally it with the bank card and then use that information to ascertain what money was owing to you (via the record in the machine). The pile of notes that had jammed up and had ipped inside the machine was shocking. People must surely have not had their deposits credited to their accounts.
I suspect that they have had the money deposited. If they haven't then I am sure they will have made a complaint and after checking that the machine they used was faulty, the bank will have credited the money.Plenty of criticism from you guys especially the one who said I have never had a problem with a machine before. Let's see your face if it happens to you . Not sure you be so happy especially if you had the same the same medical conditions I hwve
Other than you telling us you have anxiety issues and seizures (of what sort we don't know) we have no knowledge of your medical conditions. Your anxiety problems will, I am sure, have contributed to how you felt at the time, but others are coming from a more dispassionate position and taking a more reasoned view: you cannot really complain about that.
What people have reasonably poined out is that you are not out of pocket and the building society took reasonable steps to ensure that was the case
As I've already said, if it happened to me I wouldn't be happy, but I would be satisfied with the outcome.0 -
If you have a witness and the machine is I'm full view of the counter why should I prove my I'd . This site is full of heartless idiots. You are all bank lovers
Oh dear. Yet another person throwing their toys out of the pram and accusing forum users who are able to rationalise of being bank lovers etc. We are not idiots, and we are not heartless, nor indeed are we, "bank lovers", but your complaint is ludicrous and you have been told so.
You should have to prove your identity because your witness could have been your accomplice! What if your card hard been stuck in the machine and the staff just handed it over to the first Tom, Richard or Harry who claimed it was theirs? I'm sure you wouldn't be happy then, and in that instance you would be right to be unhappy.
Why is it such a terrible burden to have to prove your identity? By your own admission you even had proof on you, so you weren't even inconvenienced into having to go home to get some ID.I hope you have trouble Witham ATM and you will then find how annoying it is
How thoroughly nasty of you to wish ill upon others! Are you thick that machine is ripping off customers why else would it rip up notes.
You are being rude and unpleasant. There is no need to be.
The machine isn't, "ripping off customers". It malfunctioned and you got your money back. Others will too if they have been affected (although you have no idea whether or not they have been).A simple word you guys and it rhymes with TANKERS

Perhaps if you did use the forum more frequently, you'd notice the enormous amount of help offered freely to people who have genuine issues with their finances and/or financial institutions. Banker-bashing is rarely a sensible approach, which is why none of the experienced forumites went down that route but instead made sensible and measured responses. Just to receive abuse from the OP in return - go figure!
Well said. As a latecomer to the thread I am impressed at the calm and measured response of many of the familiar names, and disappointed at the increasingly unpleasant nature of the OP's posts.0 -

If they are wrong then I fail to see why this is a problem.0 -
My initial reaction to post 1 was 'cofeve' but I have a warped sense of humour.Ethical moneysaver0
