I always have a list of things to do before we leave:

    Water plants
Check the fridge and dispose of anything which will be dead before you come back
    Empty indoor compost bin
    Wash up

If you write the list out, then DD can be given little jobs to do while you're doing other stuff.

Things I have accidentally gone without:
Bras - and having failed to find any of a suitable size locally, I asked the fairly well endowed English ladies living on site where they got theirs. They order them from M&S and get them posted out ...
Medication - if you need any
Signature removed for peace of mind

Have you double-ckecked your journey to the airport? Booked the car park? Ordered/checked the taxi? Checked there are no bus/train strikes? Checked water/fuel/tyres on your car?

Northern Rail are having a 'mare of a time at the moment with loads of cancelled/delayed trains, so may be better not using trains to get to the airport or if you do, take a much earlier train.

The motorway around Leeds is pretty bad at the best of times and there seem to be continual roadworks, so if by car, allow time for congestion/delays.

I have a 2 page typed reminder list in an A4 ring binder - no excuses for forgetting anything !!!

We always take the travel insurance policy booklet with us, worth having for reference if (God forbid) required.

Another good tip I picked up a few years ago - send yourself an email with all your vital information in case of emergency - details of insurance, passports, EHIC cards and credit/debit cards etc. If any are lost or compromised you have convenient access to the details.

The advice to copy passport page is sound - foreign nationals are required to carry official ID in many countries, including Spain. In theory a passport is the only recognised official document, however, in practice, the local authorities will accept a photocopy for routine matters.

I no longer use small padlocks on cases - nylon cable ties are much better - we take a small pair of nail clippers in hand luggage to cut them off on arrival at holiday location. Cheap in any DIY store or Ebay.

I never bother locking luggage at all. If bag thieves want to break into your case they win and a fancy looking padlock is just a sign that there is something worth stealing in there plus I never travel with any valuables anyway.

Thank you all for your replies. You have given me some good tips and reassured me that ive done everything correct.
Yes, i do understand the liquids rules but since we are travelling with a hold suitcase the majority is going in there so i dont need to stress too much about sizes.

Ive also bought some of those packing cubes. £3.97 for 6 of them from ebay. They have come in handy as me and DD have a fair few of the cheap vests from primark. We have alot of the same colours so instead of going thru each vest to check sizes to determine whos is whos ive just packed them so we have a cube each. So much easier.

Im giving my mum and my neighbour a set of keys each in case of any emergency. My dog is going to stay with my friend for the week which her daughter is looking forward to.

Excellent tip about taking an extension with multiple sockets. I would never have thought of that but thinking about it, its a brilliant idea.

All the paperwork that we need i have printed out and also saved a copy on my phone. I have just had to email our hotel as it say check in closes at 10pm. We land in Malaga at roughly 9pm and by the time we have got off the plane, waited for luggage, waited for our transfer and travelled to the hotel it coukd be knocking on midnight, i hope this isnt an issue.

About eating as someone mentioned, we are going to have a meal in the airport before we fly and take some snacks on the plane. Hopefully this will last us until we get there. We will grab something to eat when we get there and then go to the supermarket the following morning for supplies.

Oh yes!!! I have my medication supplied in a dossette box which has my name and other details printed on, will this be ok or do i still need a copy of my prescription?. Same for DD, her name is printed onto the box of tablets too.

I cant seem to think if anything else. I had loads whizzing around my head and now ive gone blank haha.

    Once again thankyou all.

Stopped putting a padlock on our cases years ago as they are always cut off by Security anyway, got sick of paying for new locks. Admittedly this is when flying to the USA.
