Final checklist

Afternoon all.

Officially in holiday countdown mode now, 2 weeks today!!.

Its our first holiday abroad and my first holiday since my daughter was 2 going back 12 years or so. Going to benalmadena for a week and with it been our first time im panicking that ive done everything right and got all documents printed etc. I just have a wierd feeling that im going to be denied boarding lol.

Can some of you please advise that ive done everything correctly and point out that ive got everything i need. Its quite daunting when you have never done it before.

Holiday is all paid for with 'onthebeach' and paperwork is printed out along with the booking details and reference numbers. This includes flights, insurence, transfers and hotel. Boarding passes have been printed and seat reservations have all been done directly with ryan air. So we are all checked in now. A hold bag has also been purchased and paid for.

Passports have all been purchased and arrived. EHIC cards also have arrived. We are flying from leeds bradford to malaga. Due to online check in it seems all we have to do at the airport is use the bag drop for our hold luggage, proceed through security and find our gate then wait for boarding.

Sorting out currency this weekend.

Is this all correct or have i missed anything out? Any other paperwork i have missed or anything else that needs to be done?.

Also is there anything obvious that needs to be packed?. Im one of those people that will organise everything but will miss the most obvious things haha.

So apart from our clothes and toiletries i have travel documents, phone chargers, plug adaptors, sun cream/aftersun, medication and copies of our prescriptions, coffee (been advised its ridiculously expensive over there and we are staying self catering). Travel hair dryer/straighteners, travel iron.

Please confirm i am panicking over nothing and will be sat on the plane:rotfl:

Don't panic. As long as you have your passport and some form of plastic money then there's nothing which can't be bought over there if you forget it.

    Agree with ^^^^^, looks sound.

Make sure you have a day out in Malaga, beautiful city. Here's the RENFE train website. Gets you there very quickly.....

Get off at Victoria Kent station for the Centre, and also the pretty nifty Marina.

You have to be really old to remember but in Shirley Valentine she kept repeating the mantra 'Passports, Tickets, Money' before she set off for her trip abroad. DH and I have always done the same before we leave home.

I do hope you have a great time ashpilk.:)

I'd recommend as well as the travel adaptors that you take a multi plug/gang socket of some sort. Many SC places have very limited sockets which isn't helpful when everyone wants to charge their phone and camera battery overnight! I'd also throw in a couple of J cloths and a packet of wipes. Handy in the SC accommodation, on the journey and when you're out and about.

Not sure what you've done about eating on the journey. Not many airlines offer meals any more (no loss as they were always cr*p) but they do sell snacks at ridiculous prices! I'd definitely take snacks (crisps, sweets etc) with you and a packed meal if the timing's right. If you take empty water bottles you can fill them up airside most places now at drinking fountains. Some boiled sweets are really useful for sucking during landing as it can help stop you ears popping with the change in pressure.

These days with e-tickets, it's just a case of "passport, credit card, phone". I don't think I have flown on a paper ticket in at least 10 years.

A few weeks I arrived at my hotel in Turkey to discover that I hadn't packed my wash bag. No problem - a quick trip to a local shop and I had everything I needed for a few pounds.

    Sunglasses.

And leave space in your suitcase for things you may buy out there. If you are into markets there is a good one selling clothes, shoes, handbags etc every Friday up by Tivoli World.

There are also the lookie lookie men along the sea front selling handbags, shoes etc.

We were there last week and had a great time.

    Dosh...

I agree, but there's always a chance that the computers on arrival have gone tits-up, particularly in Turkey, which will affect identification of your e-visa.

I said the quote was from an old film! :rotfl:

I agree with Pete though. Signals aren't reliable enough worldwide for me to trust my phone. I always have a paper visa and boarding card as back up. Same with money. A little bit of cash is essential IMO.

Ha! I did have a mild panic on arrival at Dalaman when I realised that I hadn't printed off my e-visa and everyone else was holding theirs. I was just hoping that they would accept the copy saved on my phone but in the end they didn't ask to see anything apart from my passport.
