Or started by someone who lost the equivalent of a credit card with the pin written on it. Hopefully the answers you criticise may help others to avoid making the same mistake as you.

I asked Vodafone to Blacklist a phone which I believed was being used by someone else but which I was being billed for 3 times and they failed to do so.

Unless it's a phone that you use they won't do it. If anyone could call up and ask for any phone to be blacklisted it would create chaos!

that was not the original question, and vodafone only blocked the sim when i asked them too, not even sure how i could refuse to pay something i wasnt aware off

No, I can't see any options now. You've learned Sim cards can run up debts as fact as credit cards and should be treated with care. Unfortunately, you've learned the hard way.

It was fraudulently obtained on my account and I was being billed for it - which is the exact reason Vodafone said they would blacklist it...........which they failed to do despite several phonecalls.

Then you need to start their formal complaint process. Make sure you collate all your evidence of calls made to them.

might as well lock this thread its full of replies of people up their own !!!!

The thread should stay open, why should it be closed anyway ?
You could have taken the 2 precautions as mentioned yet you didnt for whatever reason and you gave someone access to alot of data to use.

Let me give you my tip of the day, you should take better care with things like a data sim.

In any fraud the onus starts with the victim taking basic precautions to prevent it; you failed to put a lock on the sim and managed to lose it. That isn't Vodafone's fault. Blocking the sim is a separate issue.

The real value of this thread is in drawing attention for others about setting a sim lock and phone lock to avoid the situation you have ended up in.

You best chance of any help with the bill is to contact the WRT follwing the perennial instructions on the main Vodaphone Complaints thread; no doubt someone from that team will pick this up and say the same thing.
  • Your best bet is to just pay the bill, learn from the mistake and move on.
Mid you can!!!8217;t afford to pay then offer them some sort of repayment plan.

If it was a genuine case of fraud and you told Voda that, then their fraud team would have started an investigation. What feed back have you had from them?

My issue with Vodafone has long been sorted but I had to go to the Ombudsman to do it - I'm simply pointing out that despite having a method with which to combat my particular situation (ie locking the phone), Vodafone failed to implement their own advice which probably went quite far in influencing the Ombudsman's decision.
