Time to move away from iPhone..
I’ve been mulling over my upgrade options for a while now and have come to the conclusion that afternoon 9 years of awful battery life in expensive iPhones, I’ve had enough of Apple. I think it came to light recently when considering my options and it came down to ether the 8 or 8 plus. I tried the latter and, whilst it is very good, it is just too large and expensive. The former is simply exactly the same as my iPhone 6 (what a lazy, lazy upgrade from Apple) with a slightly faster processor and camera (which I doubt I’d notice) and a back that is far easier to break.
I’d like something bigger than the 6 in terms of screen but without the excessive bezels as I do like the overall size of the 6. Other than that I’d like a bit higher storage (without being held to ransom by Apple), more ram, better battery and camera. I believe that all of this is possible from apples competitors.
I am not looking forward to using android, but I’ll get used to it.
Thoughts and suggestions welcomed.

My choice is Huawei P10 Mate pro or P20 because of very long battery life/great cameras0 -

I've always been an Android user myself but in defence of Apple, big screen, powerful Smartphones don't tend to have brilliant battery life. Just in case you're talking about battery life in regards to the battery failing then all batteries will fail at some point as they use the same technology.
Edit: The Huawei P10 Mate pro or P20 listed above possibly being exceptions in terms of day to day use but of course they have downsides with such large batteries.Your budget would help?
Given that they were at least considering an iPhone 8 Plus then I don't think they actually have a budget as such (certainly not what I would consider a budget )0 -
Budget is £40-45/month0

Consider buying phone outright and taking a SIM only deal.
This nearly always works out cheaper0 -

Yeah, have been looking at this lately with the iPhone 8 but the overall cost was so similar I decided not to take the £700 hit up front. However, that’s because I want to stay with Vodafone who appear to be more expensive than some.0 -
Price of the Galaxy S8 has tumbled since the S9 was launched and it's still a brilliant phone.0

I haven't noticed any downside, in fact the opposite?
The iphone 8 plus is 202 grams(battery 2691 mAh) whilst the Huawei P10(battery 4000 mAh) is lighter at 178 grams

Well, the iPhone 7 has one key feature over the 6 - it's waterproof.
I've just had a choice of work phones and I opted for an iPhone (again).0 -

What has Vodafone got to do with choice of phone? As per other replies, if you separate the phone from the contract by going SIM only you are likely to (a) save money and (b) have a wider choice of SIM packages on a shorter contract too.
The shops hate SIM only as they make less profit, note the recent comments by the CEO of CPW who blamed consumers opting for SIM only as the reason for needing to close 92 stores... :T
Vodafone have lousy terms and conditions and a lot of complaints on this forum... I would look at alternatives, changing networks is very straightforward and can save a lot of money.0
