OH's laptop has just done one of the latest evil microsoft update and now she has lost her contact list.
How can she get this back?
Why do they put such rubbish out?

That last update was a killer, I kept declining it and it went and did it anyway. When it finally finished I could no longer send documents to my printer to print. A £6 phone call to Epsom who also couldn't fix it despite several attempts to reinstall new drivers and I had to get a new printer.

Still running 1703 here and thats is where its staying.
EDIT: Re: the printer issues check the services.msc goto
Windows Image Acquisition, then goto the logon tab and you may see
This account and a login name and password set. This prevents the printer working.
Select Local system account and allow interact with desktop.
Apply and select OK.
The printer should now work.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Could she not just roll back to the previous version??
It being rubbish or not is purely subjective, I've updated 4 PC's and 5 laptops without incident.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I don't agree with "evil update", my now seven year old laptop didn't have a problem with it, neither did my SX410, itself also at least seven years old.
Anyway you can usually roll back through Settings -> Update -> Recovery.
As to the contact list, there's usually a few causes for this but it depends on how you got to them previously. If its web based (Hotmail/Outlook or Gmail or whatever) it shouldn't make any difference.0 -
a bit ott calling an update evil. all software needs to be updated. need to know where you contacts were stored before you can recover them. if gmail/outlook app then they should be there when you sign in to you account. if office outlook you may need to re-import them from a backup.
i wouldn't roll back as you will have to update again at some point in the future"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
I've updated four devices now ranging from high performance desktop to a 10" tablet.
Not noticed any subsequent problems with any of them.0 -
