    Not to the customer.

I don't use the self-scan tills in supermarkets, either.

You're looking at it subjectively though. The advantage to the customer is you have many more options to use "pay at pump" facilities than before. This may be advantageous if
    • You have mobility issues
    • You have small kids in the car
    • Theres a queue in the shop
    • You want to limit your physical interaction with other people (thats a big win for me  )

But an app adds nothing over pay-at-pump in any of those situations, since you still need to get out of the car to physically put the fuel in the tank, you ol' misanthrope.

The advantage is that it provides a Pay at Pump facility without having to install the Pay at Pump facility. ;)
  • The disadvantage I can see is pulling onto a busy forecourt, seeing someone getting in their car and pulling up behind them expecting them to move only to have to wait while they mess about with their phone.

I thought the app required you to allocate the pump number at that station before you started filling? Therefore once you've finished filling the billing is automatic?

yeah this, once you filled. jump in and go. nothing to do with your phone, it will just show the receipt.
