Say No to Credit Cards Diary

Hi SNTCC
I read your diary but never post!
With regards to the tumble dryer, have you considered a dehumidifier? You can pick one up in Argos for around £90 so whilst they are an investment, they are the same cost to run as a light bulb. They obviously are not as efficient as a tumble for drying clothes but they do dramatically reduce drying time, like by half.
I have never had a tumble and use my dehumidifier all winter to get the clothes dry indoors without causing any damp. We had our last one 13 years before it needed replacing so whilst they are an initial outlay they are vfm I think.
The only caveat I would add is that I don’t have any children so only it’s just the 2 of us for washing. It may not be as effective for large families?
Great news on the weekend overtime! Keep going 😃0 -
Hi SNTCC....I've just had a big catch up on your diary, and to be honest it was just what I needed, as I've had a tough week or so personally and money wise and I needed a bit of positivity! You are doing amazingly. How sweet of your dad to do that, but I am sure it is well deserved
Well done of the Ebay sales too!

Well to say I am having a busy time is an understatement at the moment.
Quick update. My dad is great and is now self sufficient apart from if he wants to go any where as he cannot drive, which is fine.
Food - I have £42.58 left in the food kitty until the end of this month so that is also manageable.
Petrol - Still got 1/3 of a tank left so that is also in a good place if I do not use it a lot over the weekend.
The good news. One of my friends has her own business. She has got a massive order so asked did I have any time to give her a hand. So I have made time to help her out. I told her I did not want paying because of the tax and national insurance because it would be a pain for just this one time. So in return for helping her this week and next week she has gifted me a Asda gift card that will cover the food budget next month. So the money that I would have allocated can now be used as an extra payment. Happy Days.
Moguline - Thank you so much for the information on the surveys. As soon as I have finished helping my friend out I am going to go and register with them all, because any extra cash can also be paid to the credit cards.
jwil - What can I say about car boot sales. I was going to do one on Sunday but I also keep looking at the weather and it is going to rain all day again. Really gutted to be honest as I was also hoping to get rid of the mountain of junk ( amazing items! ) in the garage. Lets keep our fingers crossed for the weekend after this as my bank balance really does need an injection of extra cash.
Sugarcandy - Thank you so much for your kind words. I honestly think it is so easy to fall on this journey. The most important thing is at some point you realise that and start again. Just keep thinking when this is gone, it is going to be fantastic. I am going to go and have a look if you have a diary. If you do not start one as I feel this really keeps you focused because in a strange way you feel accountable because people are reading and watching what you are doing.
Scott-Weiland - Thank you once again for dropping by. I am going to go and get myself registered with the ones you have recommended and go from there. Thank you so much for taking the time. How is the training going?
Also challenges for next month:
1. Stay within the food budget,
2. Stay within the Petrol budget,
3. List at least one item a day on ebay. I have decided to do this as I find that I put stuff in a box to list. Then if I cannot find a few hours to list the contents I do not do it. So I feel I can always find enough time to list at least one thing a day. So in September I will have listed at least 30 items.
4. 7 NSD,
5. 2 Car boot sales ( weather dependent)
6. Buy four gifts for people on the Christmas list.
Right I am gone as lots to do and little time to do it in.
Take care everybody and thanks once again for reading my junk.
SNTCC

Keep posting I enjoy reading your thread.
HI Cumbria lass
Thank you so much for dropping in on me. I never ever thought I would say this but in a strange way I am loving doing, it as it has given me a new lease of life. When I started this thread I was so demotivated, disorganised and just generally falling from one disaster to another. However, now I am organised, motivated, my house is getting sorted out and I generally feel so much better about my life because I am sorting it out.
I would say to anybody just have a go if you are feeling like that because it is an amazing feeling to be in control and know where you are with money and paying various bills.
Have a nice weekend.

Hi lashie
Thank you so much for reading my waffle and thank you so much for your ideas and help. If I am honest I only use the money eating tumble drier in extreme emergencies. So the cost is not that bad because of this. However, if it did break I think I would consider a dehumidifier because that sound amazing compared to another tumble drier.
The weekend over time is amazing. I believe it is a great weekend as well so it is a win win situation.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Gemsy,
Thank you for dropping in and keeping an eye on me. I hope things are getting better for you, if you need help with anything let me know and if I can help in any way I will as I feel that is what this forum is about. I just hope your weekend is better for you.
My dad is amazing and such a thoughtful man. He really is on the mend now which is so good to see.
I have had another few sales on ebay today but I have not updated my totals as yet. I need this month to be a biggie if I am honest to try and clear the amount that is going to start incurring interest.
You take care and have a nice weekend.

Hi Jwil,
It is amazing news about the weekends work, I am really looking forward to it.
Well, the car is all packed, the weather looks good so I should be there in the morning. I just hope I do not over sleep! I think I would cry if I did. I have put a mixture of stuff in so hope I come home with lots of cash which is going to be paid into the bank and paid of the credit cards.
Plus the garage will look a lot better without the stacks and stacks of boxes. Then I can start again for the next one!!
Have a nice weekend and thanks for dropping in on me.

Hi Scott-Weiland, Thanks for dropping by. I was sorry to read about your injuries, that is a shame. I have also started running as I want to do a half marathon next year, so I am doing the gym and running.
I will have a look on facebook to what you have been up too, it may help me with my training.
Take care and have a great weekend.

Hi Everybody,
I cannot believe another month has gone and we are in September.
I got paid yesterday and the first thing I did was pay all the minimum payments on the four credit cards so that job is done for another month.
I do not have to take any cash out for the food budget this month as I have an Asda gift card that I am going to use this month, so that is all sorted. I am going to pay the money I have saved on food off the credit card that I need to pay be the end of October. As soon as I have time I am going to add it to my signature so I know where I am with it.
Yesterday I also set up a spread sheet so that I can track every penny that is spent this month. This is something that I have never done before but I just feel that it will help me to cut back on different things.
So this is a new challenge for September.
I am still putting the cash into the annual bill tins each week so next year there will not be a panic when they are due.
My other challenge this month is to list one item or more a day on ebay. I have done this for today and have had two sales as well.
The car is loaded up for the car boot sale so I really am hoping to come home with some extra cash tomorrow which will be paid of the credit card as well.
I hope everybody has a great weekend.
Take care
