Apparently common knowledge trumps facts in Anthorn's world.

    It's a licence Anthorn... not a license.

Retailers have not been required to report TV receiver purchases for years.

Oh and there was 'lastly and I mean lastly' ...and it wasn't?

...there's a distinct lack correctness in your posts.

But "I have already demonstrated exhaustively my position which is based on common knowledge." In fact so much so that the only way I can continue is to repeat myself.

Your post confuses me though. Is it that you want everyone to agree with everyone else. In that case what is there to discuss and debate? What we see in this thread and most other thread on this forum and most other forums is opinion. However opinions don't make facts and should never be regarded as such!

    :wall:

I posted you links to the legislation. This isn't my opinion, it is the law!

You are just wrong! For once, just accept that you made a mistake.

I am fast coming to the sad conclusion that one of the EU's more outlandish proposals has some merit.
That was a suggestion from the then Digital Commissioner that we should all log in to forums and comment pages on the web using our government issued Euro-ID and post under our real names.
That would reduce the rubbish posted of all types both the misinformed, the trolling, the fabrications and the purely offensive to a fraction of what we have now.

That would still not stop the nutcases - who in previous generations were sat in the corner of a pub spourting their rubbish and ignored by all - now they are on the web.
There is a niche forum where one person admitted that when they forgot to take their pills for whatever mental disorder they had - they posted rubbish and incorrect info:- at least they later apologised for it.
Meanwhile others had wasted their time providing links and evidence that their post was inaccurate lest someone actually believed the original was factually accurate.

Anthorn - The law is clear 100% - no one "Needs" a TV Licence if they possess TV's Computers & many other devices you mention, it is only if they USE these items to receive LIVE broadcasts, or the BBC Iplayer for vision use, audio iplayer still does not NEED a licence!

    That's the law, not opinions.....

I do realise that as a foreigner you may not be conversant with British etiquette but really you must try. btw Morrisons Makes It.

On the contrary the evidence I have already supplied supports what I say, i.e. that when there is evidence of the installation of TV Receiving equipment but no evidence that it is being used TV Licensing prefer to prosecute! I have underlined that by referring to the fact that prosecutions are much more numerous than applications for search warrants. Ergo to avoid prosecution a TV Licence needs to be obtained as soon as TV Receiving equipment is installed.

Why do I have to keep on repeatedly saying the above. I would have thought that it would have sunk in by now!

Why do you keep repeating incorrect information that requires other FMs to correct it?

    I have no idea.

Anyhoo, I think we have answered the original questions. So I'm going to close the thread rather than have it going round in circles.

The MSE guide really does set this all out in a very easy to read way. I definitely recommend it, without any danger of incitement to break the law.
