How I envy you.:o. From a young age I have been fascinated by the sea. It's tides come and go as it pleases and is held back by no one. It's a glorious morning here. I've spent too long just sitting on my step watching the twinkling seaThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Happy Birthday ancientofdays :bdaycake:
I've been debating going to a funeral today and have decided not to go. It's mr tru's friend from years ago, I barely knew him, his kids (adults now) have no idea who I am. Mr tru is carrying the coffin, he'll be spending most of his time with the family so I'll be left on my own. Also my hip is playing up, I can just about walk OK barefoot, shoes are painful so the 2” heels – the only tidy shoes I have and also the only ones that go with my suit - will be impossible to walk in. I'm feeling relieved and guilty at the same time.
The plumber came round and serviced the boiler yesterday, Scampi spent the whole time in a tizz and didn't really calm down after that – he seemed to want to guard the house for the rest of the day and rushed to the front door to scare things away at the slightest sound.
It rained overnight, just as well because I forgot to water the garden last night. I'll have to water the greenhouses this morning though, obviously the rain didn't water the plants in them

It's still drizzly now so we'll have a nice quiet walk this morning. I haven't planned anything for today because I wasn't sure if I'd be here or not, so I'll just let the weather decide whether I'll be indoors or out in the garden

Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Holly enjoy your weekend
Happy birthday AOD :bdaycake: have a lovely day
Went to the care home to see mother yesterday, don't know what they have done with my 'old' mother but the new version was lovely. She spoke, thanked us for visiting. Maybe something to do with it being her birthday today... 102 years old.
Visiting again today with presents, flowers and fresh cream cakes.
Hope you all have a good dayIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. AOD have an exceedingly Happy Birthday!!
The sun has got his hat on again and we are forecast to miss the rain until tomorrow. So another nice day in store. Need to do a shop this morning as the fridge is looking quite bare. It's nice to get back to the usual Thursday shopping day as shopping has been hit and miss and done here, there and everywhere with all the appointments etc these last few weeks.
I had a lovely day out yesterday. One friend cancelled has she had the runs so just two of us. We scoured the numerous cs and she tied my hands behind my book to stop me picking up any more books! I got the prettiest bracelet (don't normally wear them) for £1,75 and a necklace for £2.25 and that was my sole cs spend all day! We had a delicious late lunch in our favourite pub - an enormous steak in ale pie, chips, veg and gravy, with a nice bottle of wine, and left fair brusson after devouring the lot!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need/want them. CAMELOT and HOLLY I hope you both have a lovely w/e . Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning Everyone,
I had my phone appointment with someone from the office of protection , to see how I am getting on with managing my mothers financial affairs, it lasted an hour. I am doing Ok, do not need to speak to them again until November or when I have found a buyer for my moms house.
Happy Birthday AOD :bdaycake: Have a lovely Day.
Happy Birthday to Silver-Oldies mom - hope she a lovely day. 102 is a great age to reach. My mom is only in her early 80's.
Other plans today are work, and visiting bank to pay some more of mothers bills.

Many happy returns of the day AOD, hope you get to eat cake

Morning everyone,
Bit cloudy at the moment but it’s meant to brighten up later and get really quite warm. I need to pop into town first thing to pick up a prescription and a form for blood tests, also need dog food and a few other bits so worth the petrol going in. Lu had the day off yesterday so she needs to be worked this afternoon, other than that not many plans.
Enjoy your day Holly and your weekend sounds fab, I also cherish time with my brother, just the two of us, probably because it doesn’t happen often!
Have a good day, take care folks x0 -
A very happy birthday to AOD and also silver-oldie's mother, cake all round! :bdaycake:
Holly, that sounds like a lovely weekend, I hope you really enjoy your time with your brother
camelot, have a great weekend away too, I have just Googled Strathpeffer, it looks wonderful
Judi - good luck surviving Grump, you don't have it easy trying to please so many people
TA - glad you enjoyed your well deserved day out with your friend
Gers - I am with Judi, very envious of your sea view. I also love being by the sea and get quite hypnotised by watching it. Maybe it comes from growing up in the midlands, so far from the coast in every direction, it was always such a treat if we ever went to the seaside!
WellI made it out with my colleages last night and was glad I made the effort as I had a good time. Pretty tired this morning though but will drag myself through my work to-do list. Also need to do a food shop after work so not a particularly exciting day but needs must.
Have a good Thursday everyone
Emma

Morning everyone. It's dull and grey here, but will clear apparently. The forecast for today showed a strip of cloud down the East coast while everyone else is basking in sunshine. The last two days have been cold.
Happy Birthday AOD, hope you have a great day.
You seem to have had a nice day out TA - does "fair brusson" mean bursting?
I haven't posted for a day or two, things seem to have got away from me.
Not much happening today I don't think. Yesterday we were at DD's, and the 8 week old baby smiled at us for the first time!! A lovely moment.
I'm still dithering about new curtains for the sitting room, Iooking at fabrics. There aren't half the fabric shops about that there used to be. Even here in our little town there was a fabric shop, the Co-Op, now defunct, sold fabric, and the twice weekly market had loads of material.
The market is now a shadow of its former self, though I might walk down tomorrow and see what's what.
I've had a few rubbish nights' sleep, waking up with pain in my neck and hip. I've been up through the night taking painkillers for the last three nights. Sorry to moan on.
I'll get some washing dry I think, once the sun gets its arris into gear.
Hope everyone has a good day anyway, take care folks.0
