Old Style Daily Thursday 14th May 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone :hello:

I didn’t get around to shoe shopping yesterday, I just couldn’t summon up the energy.

Today I’m having my hair coloured first thing, and have an appointment mid-morning, and then out for lunch with a friend, so a bit different to how my days have been recently. It will make a nice change.

My sister in law is going to Kiev for the football match this weekend, and I’m going over to stay with my brother for the weekend. He was going to collect me on Saturday morning but I’m now getting the train there on Friday. It will be really nice to have some brother and sister time together, it doesn’t happen that often. My niece and her boyfriend will be in and out so I will get to spend some time with them as well.

Before I go I want to go through the house and give it a good clean, I hate coming back to housework even if I have only gone away for a weekend.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning All

Well, that could be the worst nights sleep I've had in many years! I have coughed most of the night, been hot, cold and anywhere in between. Still, it's work today then a long weekend for half term.

I'm driving to Strathpeffer after work, should be there for about 9, going to stay with some very good friends for a weekend of walking and relaxing. Looks like the weather will be good too.

Met some friends after work yesterday for a good chat and catch up and a lovely meal, came back to give the garden a good soaking and pack a bag. I have to call at Costco on the way as my friends like the salmon from there.

    Enjoy your weekend Holly.

Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX

Good Morning chums grey and rather damp in north Kent at the moment. Hope it clears up a bit as my gardener is due this morning.also my eldest DD is going to nip in for coffee and catch-up.She is off to L.A. on Saturday with her OH for a holiday. Her new job doesn't start until June 11th.

No shopping for me now as I have more than enough to keep me going as a week tomorrow I am off to Stratford -upon-Avon for a weeks holiday with my oldest friend. My DGS are in the middle of exams after the half term and Jack is doing his 'A' levels and his slightly younger brother his AS, the youngest Mikkey is just doing the normal end of year ones but he starts his GCSE' when he goes back in September as their school likes them to do the three sciences before Christmas so they can concentrate on the rest in the New Year. So lots of head scratching ands 'Granny can you hear my revision and ask me questions ' goes on at this time of the year. I am always glad when exams are over as I fell I have sat them as well at times .I probably know a great deal more about biology and physics now than I ever did when I was at school over 60 years ago :) But I don't mind really if it helps them a bit,I am also chief bacon sarnie maker as apparently bacon sarnies help the brain to retain knowledge (:):):)) complete with ketchup of course.

Hope everyone has a good day and hopefully the sun will reappear at some point.

    Cheers chums

    JackieO xx

Morning all, it is a bit grey and gloomy but I'm hoping it will brighten up as the day goes on.

It is my 67th birthday and I've officially taken the day off though I'll probably carry on with some paperwork. Not all day though.

Hope everyone has a good day. Holly, that sounds great and Camelot, have fun.

    Morning Holly and all,

Grump is home. Site shut down yesterday after a health and safety went in and started throwing its weight around. He's not complaining but I am. He's forgotten a lot of his stuff in the blind panic to get home. Shower gel, shampoo and toothpaste I have here but we don't have a spare shaver and we will have to get another toothbrush. Hopefully he will be back on Tuesday fully bearded by then no doubt. On the way home he stopped at the Brecon Beacons and sent me some beautiwful pictures...Rub it in why don't you?!

He's also complaining I've agreed to have Diva overnight on Friday. We had nothing planned so I agreed... now he's complaining we can't go away. He wants me to spend a few days with him in the camper. Just before he started moaning The Blonde One had messaged me to see what days I could have the kids as its half term next week. My problem is, I'm trying to make everyone happy but not making a good job of it.

Need to make an appointment at the doctors for Grump today whilst he's here. Time to get that growth on the side of his nose looked at. I've been nagging him for months but its started to bleed. It will be a hospital job as its massive.

He's now ranting over the daily news....It's going to be a long 5 days.

    Holly enjoy your weekend.

AOD Have a very happy birthday._party_

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Good morning everyone.

It's a glorious morning here. I've spent too long just sitting on my step watching the twinkling sea.

Happy birthday AOD - I hope you have lots of lovely things happening.

Camelot - have a fab time, I hope your shivers are nothing too serious.

Yesterday I changed the bedding, did my usual pillow case struggle. It's just nonsense. As for the bottom sheet I've given away the one which I couldn't get on. No need for any more hassle.

This morning I'm expecting a ten minute video meeting and then I can drive down to Glasgow to see DM. No shopping to be done.

I'm off to get ready. Happy Thursday to all.

    Morning everyone

hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy overcast and breezy - air feels cool too.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 also gone into work and DS2 having his brekkie.

Dinner last night was pasta in a smokey paprika sauce (was a throw it in and taste until it seemed ok, as I forgot to get the creme fraiche that I normally use, but menfolk really liked it and for once I can remember what I threw in to achieve the end result!) that was served with paprika pork chops and a breaded chicken portion each. Tonight will be probably be chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, veg and gravy - I'll need to buy the chicken later.

Now on days' off, but have a long morning training session - so have to be at the main office to start by 9am - so won't be hanging about. I then need to go into town to visit the bank and building society and then do the normal jobs, then continue with everything else. I'll just get going and get done what I can.

I have a load in the WM, that I'll put on once DS2 has finished in the shower. That will be ready to peg out later.

    Keep safe and well x
