    Morning all,

Jcr, I hope your jaw feels better soon.
Mrs Mcawber, What a lovely thought for your sister. Congrats on the weight loss!
Olliebeak, Congratulations on the safe arrival of little Caitlin…she looks adorable!
Aussie, thanks for the lettuce soup recipe, our mum used to make it and it was lovely. Any time I’ve tried it’s been a bit tasteless so I’m going to give your recipe a go.
Mrs_mix, I’m sorry to hear about the op. Fingers crossed that it will at least help the pain. <<Hugs>> you are always so cheerful and uncomplaining.
Mioliere, It must be very difficult for you all being so far away from Mil.
Crazychick, I can’t believe that the driver didn’t stop. I’m just glad that ds is ok.
Haribo, I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better….Well I think I am….I still can’t believe you addressed that parcel to Mrs Polly Pickle! The poor postman couldn’t keep his face straight! :D
Snowy, Jackie O, Dorry, Bibbitybob, and clairefun…it’s lovely to see you all posting again.

I haven’t been around much this week...so I hope that I haven’t missed anything important. I’ve caught a rotten cold and now it’s moved into my chest so I’ve been feeling a bit sorry for myself. This is my weekend to work and as I only work one weekend in four, I feel it looks really bad if I call in sick. So I’m dosing myself to the eyeballs with all sorts of cures to try to get back on my feet by tomorrow.

I’ve got some washing in the machine but it looks like rain so I don’t think I’ll be able to get it hung outside. As I don’t have a tumble drier that means it’ll be hanging around the house which drives me nuts. The bread maker is whirring away with some dough for rolls and I’ll make some leek and potato soup later. Aside from a quick whip round to tidy up, that’s all I have planned for today.

I hope you all have a good day.

    Morning all :hello:

Smokey....Lovely to see your post but sorry OH is still unwell. Take care of you both. x

Ollie.... What a lovely little girl.

PenPen....Glad you enjoyed your trip. :D

Mrs M....I think it would be advisable to talk to a pharmacist but I have heard that chemo really affects the senses in some so perhaps it's best to wait to see how your sis is affected. I think anything with a strong smell would be a no no. What about giving her some good books to read while she is in hosp or a really beautiful silk scarf or hat if she is planning to wear something like that.

Pink....Hope you're feeling better. Though I'm sure Mr Pink is enjoying that husky voice. ;)

Plumduff...enjoy the exhibition. I went to it at the SECC a few years ago and spent a fortune. :o

Crazychik...Hope you bet somewhere with the councillor.

Ticklemouse....Be carefull at the meet. You don't want to do yourself another mischief. ;):p

    Mrs Mix....Take it easy. x

Well..........I got some sleep. :j What a difference it has made. Oh took the girls to school and I had the DW emptied, washer on and kitchen and bathroom cleaned by 9am. Still to do upstairs but I'm pacing myself. ;)

Need to do that chore whose name must not be mentioned later too. Can't get into the spare room for the pile of ir*n**g. :o

Tea is Chicken and sweetcorn soup and crusty bread and cheese. Should be enough left over for lunch tommorrow.

    Take care all.

    Haribo x

Edit...Pink you snuck in on me...See you're not any better. You CANNOT go to work if you're ill. Consider yourself told. ;)

Edit again....I'm not even going to tell people how you adressed my parcel Pink. Thanks for the material. x

    morning all,

Day off today, we are going into chichester to do some shopping DD is meeting up with her friends from school and OH and I will go round the charity shops and then have a picnic in one of the parks there. DD needs a new coat so will have a look for that too.

MrsMc, I work for the Body Shop and we used to send Vitamin E body lotion to the local hospitals, to use for the people who had had cancer surgery, apparaltly because it is not purfumed it is very gentle on the skin. Perhaps you should check with your GP, but let me know, and I can get you a list of bits and bobs they do. Well done on the weight loss.

  • Hi Crazychik
Just a word of warning about labouring, hubbies wages have dropped from £40 a day & are now at £25 a day because of the influx of cheaper workers from outside the UK.

Hi there - just having a quick coffee before I go out for the big food shop.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts about my MIL. It really helps.

MRSMIX - I must have missed the post where you mentioned having to have an operation. I hope it goes well and that you don't have to wait too long for it.

CRAZY - we chose a house on the last road we lived in because it was in quiet semi-countryside. It was a tiny little cottage and we loved it until they opened a distribution centre in the next road and, all of a sudden, we had about 12 juggernauts an hour whizzing down the road, day and night. They drove too fast so you took your life in your hands trying to reverse out on to the road; they were noisy and the windows started to crack; they knocked into the trees on the opposite side of the road and they increased the pollution levels. We, and all the neighbours, complained like mad and got nowhere so, in the end, we formed a Resident's Action Group and, after two years of really hard persistent effort, we got traffic calming put in. I had already moved house by then because I felt the road was too dangerous when the grandchildren came to visit (in fact, my immediate neighbour had a truck drive straight into her garden, narrowly missing the house) and we couldn't stand the worry. If you get nowhere, it may be worth asking everyone in the road to write to the local authority about the problem of boy racers. When we were running the action group, we discovered that, if you send in a petition with everyone's signature on it, they treat it as just one complaint - if everyone writes, they treat each letter as a separate one. I do hope you manage to get something done - I don't think anyone should have to put up with the worry of speeding traffic just outside their home. Hope your DS is getting over it and good luck.

    Morning all!

I'm mega tired today so am trying a lazy one bar walking into town and getting an eye test...now that's a big feat for me, so hopefully I'll make it back! Phoned up for my blood results this morning and supposedly I'm 'normal' although that's what they said last time and that was wrong, so I've booked an appointment for next week anyway.

[STRIKE] Supposedly it's pay day for me, but there's no sign of it in my account or any sign of it clearing... I'll check again at lunchtime, otherwise will phone up the council and ask them that i am expecting to pay my mortgage, bills etc next week, urghhhh.[/STRIKE] I double checked that it is indeed the last Friday of the month and I wasn't just imagining things, you never know with me! Edit: I'm a dumbo-pay day is the last day of the month, silly me!!

And there was me thinking I'll have an easy one today....!

Hugs to those who need/want, I'm off to catch up with the threads now x

    Morning All,
Late today as I seem to be reacting to the pain killers (typical!).

OM will be back very late tonight after a few days with MiL in Scotland. He was seeing his brother last night, but | doubt he would have had chance to talk to him about MiL: I'm still not sure if he actually thinks her health is a worry. I know she is his mother, but she is 75, lives alone, behaves oddly and I can't see any of those facts improving.

MiL has been alone for 25 years now and always was very opinionated. Now she seems to have her own rules - when she was staying with us in the summer she would stare at people and comment loudly about their clothes or behaviour etc, then wonder why they reacted. She is also forgetful and can be quite rude - pushing past people, or impatient. She is critical of the neighbours (converted house) and watches them constantly.
She used to talk a lot about moving into a smaller flat or sheltered housing, but has stopped over the last two years. I wondered if she needs to start making plans to move to somewhere more suitable - maybe on the flat, nearer the shops and with less work needed etc etc.

If OM and BiL think she is OK, then there isn't much that will change their minds.BiL lives close so he will have to hold the fort if anything bad happens.

Oh dear, a bit of a rant! Sorry!
