That's alright Lucifa, I want to know all about the journalling!

Are you artistic cos I see a lot of people draw in their journals but I cannot even draw a stick man :rotfl:

I have artistic moments. I actually just started going to an art workshop to try and improve. Sometimes I surprise myself. Sometimes my 6yo kid could do better :rotfl: I certainly don't do the fantastic themed months - I just don't have the time, let alone the skill. Are you on any of the FB groups? I joined the BohoBerry Tribe when I first started journaling and (setting aside the terrible spendaholicism - I think I just made that up!) the support and inspiration is brilliant.

  • Oh I might need to have a look and start prepping for my 2019 journal, this is going to be my year, I can feel it in my bones :T

  • See I have never really managed to keep at it with the bullet journalling, any tips for me?

I just feel that I don't have anything much to put in there to just stop after a while or writing in the same things.

I use my bullet journal to manage everything. I think the key is that the more you use it for, the the more everything hangs together. I actually have two - one large A4 planner which has all sorts of business plans, trackers, monthly plans and weekly plans, and a smaller A5 one which I load up daily with my list for that day - it's a more traditional bullet journal I guess, as I use that to shift stuff from one day to the next, but the bigger bullet journal with monthly and weekly plans helps me not write everything out in the little one every single day, as that just wouldn't be manageable with my life. I used to just use one, but I was getting through a bujo every two months and having to rewrite out all the longer term trackers was ridiculous.

Out of interest - how many months did you get in your LT? That is what I had before I move to a Hobonichi Cousin. I got too busy to take time to draw out each month. I was considering going back to it but I've committed to another Hobonichi for 2019 now. My new notebook at work is a Moleskine and I am actually disappointed in it. Still, its only for work so I shall use up ALL the pages!

(Sorry for the hijack Dolly :p)
I used to get just over two months, maybe three at a max, out of one Leuchtturm, A5, but I've now switched to two, and I'm looking like getting a good six months out of the large A4 planner and maybe 4 months out of the smaller one. I do write a lot of lists though - I think I'm at the high end of the curve when it comes to list writing!

  • Thank you for this!

Defo gonna start getting more into the bullet journalling.

I'd echo that the more you use a BuJo, the more it comes together.

Another tip would be to ignore the insta-pretty journals. Sure borrow some layouts while you are finding your groove, but don't not try something because it doesn't fit with what others are doing. Likewise don't do something because everyone else seems to be - if you don't get anything out of a mood tracker then don't do it. If you need to tweak a layout, tweak it.

Also - go back to Ryder Carroll's original page and concept - that is what bullet journaling is - the rest is just gravy.

Finally - it shouldn't be a chore. BuJos are supposed to help alleviate pressure, not make it worse. If you don't enjoy keeping it up to date you'll stop doing it.
