POPLA rejected

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me.

I parked at a Hospital for an appointment, but there was no signs to assist in parking. I asked the receptionist and she said you can pay after your appointment. My appointment was two hours late, as they were running late, so having arrived at 3:00pm 2 and a half hours later. I asked the receptionist how to pay for my car parking and she led me to the machine within the hospital, I entered my car registration and it asked for £2 only.

One week later, I receieved a ticket, I thought it was a joke as I knew I paid and it showed on my online banking. The Parking Eye are adament I did not pay the sufficient amount, which was supposed to be £3, so this was passed onto POPLA. POPLA rejected my claim on the basis that I should have looked at the signs! There was no signs in the bay I parked and I only paid what the machine had asked, how is this my fault? They are saying I need to contact Citizens advice now and I know I will start to receive the parking reminders. This has been such a stressful experience and I am so angry about it all. Do I have any legs to stand on or should I just give-up?

Do not even think of paying at this stage. Have you contacted PALS at the hospital to get it overturned?

Everyone is politely asked to read up on this in the newbies faq thread near the top of the forum

Go there now to learn about the game you are caught up in and how to deal with this

Ignore the advice given to go to CAB! (They don't give good advice on private parking charges)

#4 in the FAQ advises on what to do following popla, and how to deal with debt collectors.

The ppc has 6 years to commence legal proceedings against you - come back for advice on defending a court claim if it comes to that

Throughout you are advised never to reveal who was driving

You need to edit your post to remove details of the driver

If you have inadvertently used your real name as your forum name then get MSE to change it to something anonymous

The ppcs monitor this forum and can use your posts against you

Is the car park barrier controlled? If so and you have to put your ticket into the payment machine, pay and receive your ticket back, how did you get past the barrier if you had paid an insufficient amount?

There is no barrier and no tickets! There was no machines in the area I paid in and the only machine was a machine inside the hospital. I entered my car registration and it said to pay £2!

Has google stopped working for you?

I just stuck PALS into goole and the very first item listed looked like this:

It's often much quicker to ask a question on google that it it is to write a forum post and wait for someone to answer.

    No, you don't.

Why not send a free SAR* to ParkingEye on 25th May (Friday)?

*Google it and search the forum for it.

Citizens Advice are absolutely useless when it comes to private parking matters. They will just tell you to pay it.
