Rights when buying gig tickets

In July last year I purchased x2 tickets to see Ed Sheeran at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester. The tickets were in block 316. Yesterday I received an email to say that my tickets had been changed by 2 BLOCKS to block 318.
I am understandably not happy about this and contacted them. They said that the original tickets I booked were a mistake and were always in block 318, even though I have the email with the confirmation of seats.
They've said all they can do is offer me a refund!
Does anyone know if they have the right to do this and if not what can I do about it? The concert is in a week's time. Any advice would be appreciated.

Who did you buy them from, what do their T&Cs say about changes?

    Sounds more than reasonable.

Having looked at seating plan there doesn't look much difference tbh.

Bottom line.....do you want to go to the gig or not.

Are tickets still available in the block you thought you had booked? If not, there isn't a lot they can do apart from refund you. If the tickets aren't available, they're not available.

If you do go for the refund, make sure they refund any bookings fees you paid as well as it was their error.

You are going to be a looong way from the stage in either block. Are the new seats on the same row, closer or further back.

Take the refund and save your ears

Looking at the seating layout both blocks are the same distance from the stage, blocks 313 to 318 are the worst seats in the whole stadium and are furthest away from the stage. Moving two blocks directly to the left is not going to make the slightest difference to the experience in this situation.

Husband has been offered tickets to see him at Wembley, but even the lure of free tickets/drinks and food in a corporate box wasn't enough to tempt him. Instead we're accepting the offer of going to see Taylor Swift next month - because the seven year old will be in heaven. We're just planning on drinking one hell of a lot and staying inside with the doors shut :D
