moneysupermarket + Nuisance calls

I did a search a few weeks ago because I wanted a home insurance quote, I went through moneysupermarket and decided not to choose any insurance because the one I have was cheaper

Now I am being inundated with phone calls from various insurance companies, they ring me all day around 5 times a day, starting from 7am in the morning to as late as 10pm

I have answered a few of them at the start and told them not to ring but they don't stop, this has been going on now for nearing 3 weeks and it is VERY annoying

I have now bought extra on my phone so I can block certain numbers.

Had I known this would happen I would never have used that blinkin website

surely this is not right!!!

Maybe I should have read terms and condition because there is probably something in there.

Moneysupermarket sell your details. However, cold calling times should be limited to 9am to 9pm. Anyone phoning outside of those times is breaching FSA rules.

It is in there that they pass your details on although you can opt out.

Yes they can be a pain - but not if you untick the boxes giving them the OK to contact you. And, to be sure, I normally corrupt my telephone number a little when entering it.

  • Yeah Michele37, i know full well what you're on about.

I've just picked up the phone to a 0845 6776772 and got no response, that's just plain rude!
I'm also getting called on my mobile from 0845 0700827.

This is infuriating, in future I'm going straight to the insurance companies and asking friends for recommendations, I'm not using one of these comparison sites every again!

I never check the box saying "the world and his wife can call me", i just want a quote, not dishcloth sales.

    Absolutely fuming!

I'm getting the same - although I think it was from a survey I did.

So far I've had calls from companies wanting to claim back my bank charges (I haven't got any!), reclaim PPI I've paid (I haven't), claim any tax I've overpaid (I'm already doing that), check my endowment is on target to pay out (it is), and now I'm coming home from work for the last 3 days to find the same number on my phone 4 - 5 times, it's from a remortgage company. I'm actually clever enough to get another mortgage for myself, if ever I feel the need!

I'm also signed up to TPS, but as I must have put my phone number on the survey somewhere, I assume these calls are exempt from that?

yes, moneysupermarket (and a good few others for that matter) sell your your details as "leads" i.e. if they dont make a commission out of you buying a policy via them they still make cash flogging your details from a place like this www.paaleads.com The people calling you have "bid" for your details so they can call you.

I'm getting this too. Do you think it would be naughty  to give their details as randomly as they use ours??

Do you think answering their phone to sales persons would start to annoy their sales team as much as it annoys me trying to get the kids tea out when the phone rings and it's poxy mortgage/loan/insurance companies.

Feel free to phone them anytime on my behalf especially at teabreak or lunchtime.

Ah I feel better now. Well until the phone rings at teatime!!!!

If I get cold called and I have the time and feel mischievious then I string them along and give false details. Nothing like baiting them and making them think that they're getting a sale/commission. Then put the phone down on them.:D

When they call why not say that either that person isnt home or the person they are asking for doesnt live at the address anymore

Wish I had read this post before last thursday!

My phone has been ringing like crazy! I went onto 4 different sites to try and get quotes.

Main reason I did this was because having a 3 month old and a 23 month old does not really give me much free time to have a conversation on the phone!

I just answer and tell them to take the number off their records and not to contact me again......there are just sooooo many of them though!

I won't be doing that again!

  • the thing i found funny, is that i had a call through/after moneysupermarket and they wanted me to confirm my details!

i said i wouldn't until they gave me theirs - they said they couldn't till i gave them mine!

    i won!
