The whimsical tale of the Waterbed of Debt

Hope tomorrow does better than you think Butti.
Twas considerably better than I thought. Quite bizarrely so.
...and tomorrow a contractor I like has rearranged things so that he can come and meet me. Don't know whether I can read anything into that or not but I am quietly pleased
Will be seriously cold though!Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.

Well it appears someone else arranged something to kibosh that plan!!
Of course it could all be in my head!
Have just realised, like last year, I have not done any New Years Resolutions. I usually do them about now(because I like to be different). They help me to focus on what I am doing for the year. Certain ones are already lined up - swimming lessons, pay off credit card but it helps to have focus.
Right better get up. Having a day off tomorrow so need to get my work done today :TDebt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.

So ....things going pretty well.
Pain seems to have eased in my knee. I am consciously eating almonds which contain magnesium, selenium and zinc - all good for the thyroid. Also looking at blenders so I can blend my own juice. Have a freezer drawer full of picked blackberries from last year so that will be utilised once I have said blender.
Going for something cheap and functional - None of this trendy Bullet milarky for me. Something with good reviews and a price under £20 if I can do it. Might be pushing it!
Less impressive is my failure to anticipate the fourth anniversary of buying the house and hence having a house insurance renewal. Particularly given I claimed on it last year for theft of my bike!
So it has gone up by £70 :eek::eek:
I think I need to be putting these things on a calendar to catch them before they are auto-renewed!
Have also come to the conclusion that there may need to be a few compromises on my overpaying in April & May. I can't see how I can do £200 on the solar panels, £250 overpayment on the mortgage, £150 on the credit cards AND pay the remaining £600 balance on Cambodia and about the same on the flights. Either I am going to have to;- become a hermit
- give up food
- give up beer
- give up doing my job properly
- sell my soul
- all of the above!
Hmmmm :cool:
In terms of where we are 4 years after stepping back on to the home ownership ladder
The mortgage is at; £59, 804 35% paid
Credit cards;
Barclaycard £3861
Santander £1110
Total Credit cards £4971
Given that Santander will clear in about 7-8 months I think mentally the best thing for me is to not overpay on the mortgage for 2 months but still pay as much on the credit cards. That means by the time we hit September I will be close to 1 credit card.
I've also had a think about New Years Resolutions;
I have two work related ones that are too specific to put on here but will help me in my job and help me get another job
3. Update CV and Linked in (procrastination is doing well here!)
4. Improve swimming and learn front crawl
5. Pay off one credit card
6. Widen social circle beyond the local :beer:
To this end;
I have put my name down for swimming lessons and mentally prepared myself for waxing :eek:
I have signed up for a weekly spanish get together which just happens to be in the village (in the pub :beer: but not in my local pub :rotfl:) (go on...let me have this one!)
I have signed up for a speed dating night :eek:
I have started going to other meetup groups
I could do with doing an exercise I did a few years ago where you look at what in your life you have really enjoyed and work towards incorporating it now:D:D

I do find my luck on this one quite amazing. Given that there is one group listed for my county, how is it in my village, within walking distance of my house. Tis amazing!....not to mention very helpfulDebt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.

Need to put myself back out there at some point Beanie and not be afraid...and we shall see what happens (if anything!)
Taken delivery of a poaching tin today - 2 cups for two poached eggs.
Well when I say I have, what I actually mean is next door did because Amazon tapped on the door and immediately put a card through the letter box
Why do they do that?
I immediately washed it and made myself poached eggs on toast. It's a very good source of protein and easy in the morning and more to the point it reminds me of my mum making it for me when I was a child.
