Windows updates will add bloatware and extra load on the CPU?0 -
Its going to run like a dog no matter what you do with it ..(as you are discovering)
How big is that hard drive ?, im guessing its one of those 32GB jobbies soldered to the board0 -
My error, sorry about that. That's what happens when I post when tired.Bedsit_Bob wrote: »No, I didn't do a factory reset.
It had been factory reset, when I bought it.
As above, I didn't do the reset. It was reset when I got it.
In any case, you need to check what is installed. If you need help or guidance, tell us what is installed. You can find the list in Control Panel and going in to Add/Remove Programs.
But definitely run Adwcleaner - I linked you to it earlier.0 -

I don't need much by way of programs, as it's only for browsing, emailing and watching pre-downloaded videos, while on holiday.
Google Chrome and VLC Media Player should probably do it.

I believe there are (at least) 2 variants using X101, one with a little panel underneath and the other without. The former is simple - remove panel and replace 1GB stick with 2GB stick, the latter has 1GB soldered to the board with no expansion possible. There may of course be more versions out there !0

Nope. 320GB.
Yeah good luck with that.
I wouldnt spend 1 penny on the thing because you are inevitebly going to either bin it or throw it at the wall.
Doubling the ram from 1 to 2 GB (which is the max you can take it to) isnt going to do a jot for it as it suffers the horrible atom n435 cpu running at 1.66Ghz IIRC
And that Hdd spins at 5300rpm - You will be running W7 starter edition and you max resolution is 1024X600
When you say you have "come into possision" of it - im guessing someone gave it to you - which is what you will likely be doing after wasting a week trying to make it do stuff
Big clue in that it's maxing it's self out by playing a simple video and downloading a file at the same time
Good luck though - let us know how you get on :beer:0 -
OK, so I've run CC Cleaner to tidy up the registry and delete unneeded files (about 300MB worth), and now I've got the Installed Programs and Startup lists, but I can't post them as the site is blocking me.
Any suggestions on how I can post them?0 -

It's small (10.25"x7.25") and light (35oz), so it's ideal for carrying in my daysack.
Prepare for the most frustrating browsing and emailing you have ever experienced
A cheap tablet would be a million times better - or your phone0
