  • Well it looks like all those crossed fingers paid off and some positive news for the middle sprog - all her bits and pieces have been taken for some disclosure checks and they will be in contact with some start dates - hopefully the end of next week

I'm to old in the tooth to be cracking open the champers just yet but the signs are good and hopefully she will be earning herself some cash dollar soon

Had a lovely evening with my old work pals last night - one of the ladies was on an IVA when I first met her 13 years ago so it was heartening to hear that she now has a healthy stash of premuim bonds and a fund which enables to her to pay her holidays as she books them
A great example of turning things around

I drove the older lady which she told me she was really grateful for as now she is getting older she doesn't like driving more then a short distance

Spent £17.00 on a fantastic turkish feast - My belly was busted and I couldn't eat it all.
  • Absolutely love Turkish food! Not surprised you couldn't eat it all their portions are alwaysss huge :)
  • I had a Yoghurtlu Beyti , the lamb variant

If you haven't tried it before , give it a go
  • Hope everyone had a good weekend - I've had quite a quiet one , taken care of some jobs and did a good daughter deed taking my mum to the cemetary to lay some flowers and other then that mostly just some rest and respite.

I thought I would be sensible and coming all my loose change pots in to one , One of the pots has to be broken open and has been around for years so i decided to smash the seal with a wrench - To my pleasant surprise £12 worth of £1 coins , short lived once I realised they were the out of date ones. I will have to try and get to the bank as I understand these can be deposited in to my account for credit so at least they aren't written off altogether

In small wins - I had the parking ticket which I got a couple of weeks ago revoked - I displayed the ticket on the dashboard instead of sticking it to the windscreen , according to the local council I had placed the ticket upside down , I cannot be sure if I did or I didn't but they unusually had no photographs of my "offence" so I can only assume it was a parkie trying it - The goods news is that on reciept of the photo of my valid pay and display ticket common sense has prevailed and the penalty fare has been cancelled

Its a few short days to payday and i haven't been able to replenish my savings with any contribution this month so I need to re visit my budget and see where I am going wrong , I feel like I have cut down on my social calender obligations and tried to watch the spends to it is quite disapointing to have nothing left this month to add to my savings
The car did throw a slight curve ball in to the mix but these little things to make me realise I need to have more set aside
Optomistically I am hoping that it takes a while for a budget to fall in to place and I am making progressive steps to getting the books to balance , the most important thing for me is not to increase the debt , everything is on interest free so any contribution is a reduction

This month the outlook is already very tight - the positive is that september is a much shorter pay month and I should see a slight increase in my take home pay on friday as its our month for annual pay review
I think I will be making the min only payments to the cards to start with and tap in to the interest free on Very and then I shall revisit at the month goes on and hopefully be able to allocate more
I'm finding it frustrating that I can't make bigger chunks as I should have enough disposable income to make them , I need to look at other ways to generate extra income.
I think I may investigate matched betting but before I enter in to I will read up and arm myself with as much knowledge as possible , I will have to be very strict with myself aswell as I have quite an addictive personality and I wouldn't want what should be a few extra pounds safely gained to turn in to a bit of a problem
  • Hi Efes Shareholder, just popping in to say hi! So glad your parking ticket came to nothing, they are so annoying and especially when you know you haven't been in the wrong!

Good luck with matched betting. I never could get my head around it and decided not to risk it in the end. Hopefully you'll fare better and it will hopefully help pad out your bank account a bit!

  • Thanks for popping by Silver Queen

It feels like a small victory and that I have my justice , the air was blue when I saw the ticket on my screen !
  • I am limping to pay day , well after attending the salon for my delicate wax , I guess I am sporting a rather elegant waddle

Said treatment pretty much took care of this months wage disposal - The pain ! Sometimes I wonder why I pay someone to inflict that on me however it does mean I require little "self groomng" for around 6 - 8 weeks and after I am always glad I have been brave

3 rounds of childbirth yet a waxing session requires a day of preparation with me sinking painkillers and I never attend without a small water bottle to grip !!!!!!!

Kids came over last night for a home cooked curry after which we all watched bake off - love the show but can't bake for Toffee
My middle sprog walked the dog for my mum but it didn't keep him quiet for the night and when I retired to bed , he was yapping away and testing my last nerve.
The neighbours have already complained and I am sure they will do again if the hound doesn't change his current form.
The frustrating thing is there is no reason for it other then him being a spoilt dog , my mum seems immune to his noise but will then become paranoid and concerned that she may get a complaint about him but doesn't appear to do much to silence him
He has often been that appalling that I have considered calling the council myself !!!!!!!!
I am going away on Friday for pre booked break ( booked before LBM) and at one point I was considering not going , however I cannot lie part of my attendance is to get away from home and I am looking forward to not hearing dog noise !!!!
  • ARRGGHH i have nails booked in for tonight and my lady has just had to cancel , been booked for 5 weeks cos of leaving tomorrow for trip !

So frustrating , she has rescheduled for tomorrow but it puts me under pressure , on the plus side she is now doing them for free so thats a £22 saving !! just means i'll be running round like a blue a*sed fly
  • Payday tomorrow and by the skin of my teeth I have made it with £8.22 remaining from my salary - this is the first time since I started my MSE log.
I had been expecting to be able to retain more , Once I get back from my break I will be revisiting my budget as in theory I should have more surplus so I need to sit down and go through the account and maybe revisit the budget. The positive is that everything has been catered for from my salary , I guess it takes a good while to really get budgets working for you. I suspect its the little unaccountables like my daughters replacement driving licence that eat it up but I need to improve my awareness of excatly what is available.

Bit disapointed as was offered a ticket in to a box at wembley next week for the england game but prior commitments mean i wont be able to go - Its a shame as all food and drink are included however the young man I deal with assured me it will be offered again in the future , I've never watched a game from a box and would have loved to be able to attend
  • Happy pay day weekend! We made it! All surplus is bloody brilliant if you ask me. Well done.
That's a shame about the football, but sounds like a nice option in the future!
I lapsed & smoked again when I was in the pub this week, this is my confession. How's the vaping going for you?
