Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 3 - A New Beginning

Hope you're having a relaxing time. At least it looks fine out there and there's some sun even if it's not terribly hot. Ullswater is very calming I find, and Pooley Bridge is nice for an ice cream or a drink.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Wow - Ullswater is amazing. So much more peaceful and relaxing than Windermere. I had a lovely day out, even though ds clearly got out of bed on the wrong side this morning and has been a pain in the backside for most of the day - with a little black cloud of doom hanging over him. We parked up at Pooley Bridge and got the steamer straight through to Glenridding, where we had lunch and a bit of a walk. I was quite amazed at how much damage there still is from the floods a couple of years ago - the place is beautiful but it is clearly wrecked from Storm Desmond... I bought a couple of little souvenirs for myself - 2 posters, which I intend to frame and put up in the living room (to replace the wedding pictures which have been removed), and some Lake District Gin for Christmas presents. I resisted the chutney in the feeble hope that I will brave it myself sooner or later. :rotfl: I am so anxious about being utterly rubbish at it though. I once tried to make jam and it didn't set - I can't imagine how bad I will be at the really tasty stuff like chutney.
Then we got the boat back up to Pooley Bridge and had a little walk around there before coming back to the cottage and going for dinner at the local pub. I'm now just making full use of the facilities here and getting a load of washing and drying done before we head off tomorrow. I will be in the hot tub again tonight and tomorrow morning, but I don't know whether or not we'll be heading straight home or if dd wants to go via Carlisle. I'll let her choose in the morning. It's so beautiful here - I wish we could stay longer, but I do miss the cats and am looking forward to seeing them again very soon. Not giving up

There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to make chutney CCL, except for your very busy working life which is about to kick off again very soon! I would send you some if I could... and your jam that didn't set, well that is probably just because you didn't boil it for long enough0

Thanks Dawn - I think I need to take some of my own advice and keep trying with the preserves. I always tell the kids at school that you can't be brilliant at everything the first time you try and you need to keep trying to get good at something.
I'm very tired this morning. I was awake late last night, stewing over a conversation I had with Sky Tv which has obviously bothered me more than I thought. When ex left I rang up to get rid of Sky Sports and found I couldn't because we were tied into some contracted period of time for it, but I picked up loads of other offers to bring my bill right down. Anyway, I got an email yesterday saying that as of October, Sky Sports will not be available in SD any more and I will have to have Sky Sports in HD and it will cost £2 a month more. I don't like this one little bit, and I don't see why I should have to take this on, when it's Sky who are no longer offering the service that I subscribed to. I rang them up to ask why I wasn't given the option to opt out, and they said there wasn't an SD option any more, so I suggested I should have the choice of getting rid of Sport and was told I couldn't as I'm in contract. But they don't offer the thing I agreed to any more - so do I not have the right to leave the contract? They say not. I'd be interested to know what anyone else thinks.
Also playing on my mind today is that it is my wedding anniversary - it would have been 6 years, and 16 years together today - if we were still together. I don't know what I'm so bothered about - I never got an anniversary card or present, so no different. Just a day of mulling over what might have been I suppose. Maybe I'll get home and find my letter about the decree Nisi or something, to reassure me again that things are on the move and it will all be over soon.
We're heading off in the next couple of hours - I've had a lovely time here and am feeling relaxed overall. DD has decided she wants to go to Carlisle so I suppose I'd better get a move on and start packing up, otherwise there will be no hot tub time before we have to go, and that won't be a good start for me today :rotfl:Not giving up

I agree or, if you don't get anywhere, email them and say just what you've said here. I think a lot of these companies think they can get away with anything. Don't give up. This seems really unfair.
It's understandable that the anniversary thing is playing on your mind but it will all be over soon.
Enjoy your day in Carlisle.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Separation/divorce is like a kind of grief isn't it and I find that some things, such as a wedding anniversary, trigger a wave of grief, then pass again.

Couldn't have described it better HSL2, it feels exactly like that. I often say it is grief for the life you thought you'd have.

If I'd known you were coming here today we could have met up! I have to go into town later and will now be scrutinising any families of 3 that I see :rotfl:
I'm so glad the sun is shining for you though, and a quick trip into town yesterday revealed that Carlisle Fringe does still have a few things happening in the week and there's Tullie House etc of course, and perhaps the shops for DD.
Hope you have a lovely day.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Hey! We're home
No Decree Nisi or anything waiting for me - just a pool of my own misery to wallow in. You're quite right, thinking about what could have been. I haven't cried (yet) but I do feel very sad if I think about it. Plus the whole going back to work thing.
We spent about 3 or 4 hours in Carlisle - and I did see some of the Fringe stuff joey - there was a huge group of bagpipers, which was amazing, and a man doing some George Ezra songs. DD loved the shops and dragged me and ds around all the usual teenage girl places, and managed to get me to part with £45 for her winter coat - ds and I were a little more reserved by spending £3 and £2 respectively in Primarni. We grabbed a bite to eat before heading off and arrived home just before 4.
Since we got home I've been non stop - sorting through post, and a muscle food delivery that has arrived for the month ahead. Plus I had to unpack, then put a load of washing on, and hoover right the way through the house, and get some kitty cuddles. I've also done the September budget, which looks excruciatingly tight and I'm already stressed about it. But at least I know, and I'm not burying my head in the sand about it all. Finally sitting down and relaxing for the evening now - planning a very early night and hoping for a good sleep.
I also picked up a book in The Works in Carlisle - on preserving food. It was only £3. Now I just need to know exactly what kit I need compared to what the book tells me I need. Do I need funnels, and a thermometer? Hoping that someone in the know will tell me (Foxgloves, Dawn, anyone???) The big pans are quite expensive as well - do I need one of those? According to the book I need everything but I suspect I dont. I have no intention of starting chutney making tonight though so I can wait and find out.
I've now just realised that I haven't eaten since lunchtime and I'm actually quite hungry so I'm off to find something for my dinner. Not giving up
