  • Morning :coffee: :hello:
Not a good night of sleep at all last night - I woke up about 5 or 6 times during the night for various reasons. Not sure what I'm stressing about but that's usually the first sign of my mind going off on a tangent. I'm also wondering if I'm not tiring myself out enough during the day because I slept very well while we were at Alton Towers. Depending on the weather I might go for a little walk later on (I also might not :rotfl:).
Not that I expected it, but I still can't access my budget this morning - I'm reminding myself that I managed 41 years without it so far, but it had better be back on soon.
No real plans for today except to do some grocery shopping. DS has arranged to go to his dad's and sleep there tomorrow night and I want to make sure that he has plenty of food to take with him, because I'm not convinced what ex is doing in terms of ability to look after them both, and financial ability. I also haven't shopped properly for 3 weeks with us being away, and while I'm home for the week ahead I need to make sure there is plenty of decent food in for all of us. I'm inspired to want to bake by HSL but I am on a diet, and I'm not sure my kids would appreciate home baked snacks - they just seem to like crisps, chocolate and popcorn.
Speaking of the diet - weigh in this morning and I'm pleased to have lost another 3lbs - so 6.5lbs in a fortnight. Hopefully I can stick with this momentum and keep going. I'm pleased it's moving in the right direction but I have a very, very long way to go.
Other than that - 1 of my crochet projects is finished and in the cupboard ready to gift to someone. The one I'm now working on is proving to be a bit troublesome - lots has needed to be taken out and redone, but I'm determined to get it done. Complete everything I'm currently working on before starting anything new... Trouble is I do a lot of blankets so they're not little projects like hats and scarves. :rotfl:
Right - time for me to get on for the day.
  • Ugh - my washing machine seems to have stopped draining. That is all I need...:(

Look at the pump access thing at the bottom - there might be something in there that is blocking it / stopping it from working. The instructions that came with the machine will show how to access it - or google. With mine, you lift a flap and undo a screw and the trap thing pulls out. I have found things such as coins, small scews from OH's pockets and small lego parts in there before.

If you do this, place a baking tray or similar underneath to catch any water that leaks out.
  • As Dawn W says. On my machine, it looks a bit like a petrol cap that is unscrewed. Go slowly though or you'll have a very wet floor.

  • I used to have to clean the filter out loads on my old machine - but this one needs doing less often so I tend to forget about it.
It was kind of a comedy moment - the access is too low on the machine to put a dish under to catch water, so I put a large towel under it. Which was like trying to soak up the Atlantic with a dishcloth. I gently unscrewed the filter and gallons of water poured out - I couldn't get the filter back in again for love nor money. Then the cat that was in the kitchen watching me jumped onto the table and promptly threw up a slug it had been eating. So after a long mop job, £1.02, what used to be a sticker, a long plastic strip and loads of fluff I have a clean filter again. I have tentatively put a load of washing in to see what happens next. I have also cleaned and disinfected the vomited slug area. _pale_:lipsrseal
Grocery shopping done £88 in Mr T, including new pants for dd and a swimming costume that was reduced in the sale (also for dd). I would add it to YNAB but I don't have access any more.

Honestly this is a parallel universe still - my washing pump is blocked and being the newly independent woman I am I cant fix it so I have the repair guy coming out but not until 1st September:eek: Its been 2 weeks already, luckily my ex has a lovely washing machine so I am using his:rotfl: (just as well we have split up otherwise I'd have to go to the launderette:rotfl:)

My pump is also too close to the floor and many times I have used all the towels in the house until I remembered I had a Vax hoover so now I just put the hoover nozzle up against the pump outlet and hey presto only one hand towel gets wet and nothing is flooded:T
  • Well, touch wood, it seems to be working so far - I've managed to get 2 loads of washing done without any fuss. Sorry you're having to wait so long to get yours sorted EE - I would be lost without mine, but would ask my mam or by bestie or even my dad before I would even dream of asking ex. In fact I think I'd buy a new once before that happened. Seriously, I plod along fine without him, but as soon as I see or hear anything from him I go straight to maximum stress and anxiety. It's such a shame, because I loved him so much.
No more cat sick anywhere at the moment either.
Bestie has been over for a cuppa this afternoon, and we've arranged a couple of days out with the kids during the next week. Now just thinking about what to make for my dinner and I think I just fancy snacks and dips. :D
