You might not be particularly interested but a story about a gay farmer isn't offensive. Or if it is, you're very easily offended and probably need to get out more.
Is it also too PC to talk about the impact of different factors on mental health in rural communities which was the main point of the story?
The clue is in the programme title.
Mental health is very much to the fore at the moment. Farmers being particularly isolated from those who they can share their problems with.

It is mental health awareness week
    from 14th to 20th May.

NO, the clue is in the programme title 'Country file', why would I expect gay or any other 'human' opportunity be exploit a opportunity to promote any sexuality.

Its down to your inability to grasp the principal of marketing.

The reason for promoting anything is to sell it to people who didnt know they wanted the product. And to normalise it.

I only have an interest in the sexuality of one person - my wife.
"Some" people have an agenda to promote their speciality, it used to be the free love brigade, later the extra marital fan club followed by the same sex association. Latterly the LGBT union (I understand another letter is added to the acronym every so often) have come to the fore.
Quite why sex wheedles its way into country file I dont know........but then I'm a monogamous, white, heterosexual, boring old fart.

anything that someone else doesn't agree with, we have become a nation of tiptoe round every subject that may or may not offend some or other members of society, utterly pathetic.

and yet another thread on the subject...

You have a right to be offensive (or irritating, or boring, or wrong, or whatever...)

People have a right to be offended (or irritated, or bored, or pedantic, or whatever...).

Even if you aren't any of the above, the forum moderators have a right to remove (or edit, or lock, or whatever) any post or thread as they see fit.

    It's really not complicated.

Any chance we can avoid a third thread on the subject?

There is a simple way to avoid it, don't read it - allow others the same choice.

I agree in principle - but sometimes it's hard to avoid when an individual comes onto an existing thread and derails the discussion.

Like the drunk idiots on a pub crawl coming into a quiet locals pub on a Sunday afternoon and wondering why everyone is giving them the stink-eye
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.
