Benchmark.
I have a Samsung S850 and it has never seen a non-rechargeable battery.
I feed it 2800mAh NiMH batteries I got from ebay (Profitexx brand from Budpak) and I regularly shoot 50-80 pics a session for an AS level photography course. A 3 day trip to Edinburgh didn't flatten the batteries(one set).
I can get the low battery light if I take several flash (10) shots in rapid succession.
As a back up I also carry two 2100mAh "instant power" hybrio type batteries which hold their charge better. They sit in a carrier at the bottom of the carry case.
Find some decent NiMH batteries you can trust and see what happens. Asda have several Hama chargers and high cap battery combos on offer for £17 at the moment.
Oh yes. I have a 1GB memory card installed as well. Each 8M pic takes up just over 3MB (compressed in jpg format). So that's about 300 shots on a 1GB=1000MB card.
I'm really pleased with the quality of the shots given the price of the camera.0 -
Well what I will do is see if these new Duracel will hold out! Keeping fingers crossed that other batteries were dud ones and hoping there is nothing wrong with the camera! If that goes ok then I will get a memory card!! If not, Nectar will be getting a phone call from me!_pale_Sunday 23rd September 2007 I came to my senses and discovered fresh air!!:j

DON'T USE ALKALINE BATTERIES!!
If you don't have rechargeable batteries in the house, get some.0 -

Hi I'm surprised at the general lack of support here for rechargables-also the lack of info about duracell batteries ,because there are diferent duracell types. I had a digicam years ago which ate batteries-and to confuse the issue even more I bought a multipack of Sony batteries which turned out to be substandard. Lidl often sell NiMh 2500 mah -4 for 1.990

I've never used rechargables in my life!! So I suppose there is a first time for everything!! Seems ok at minute! Think that other batteries were dud ones (duracell Ultra) bought Duracell plus. Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the two?:oSunday 23rd September 2007 I came to my senses and discovered fresh air!!:j

Go to www.7dayshop.com for really low prices on SD memory cards. They have loads of offers on just now and they are almost giving them away.
While you are there look for some high power rechargable batteries.
If you continue to use duracells at tha rate you will be bankrupt pretty quickly. You would be better chucking the camera away and using the money saved on batteries to buy another one that is cheaper to run.0 -

I use nothing else but rechargeables wherever I can....the cheap ones from Poundland work fine in the myriad of remotes I've got & use the high power ones for my cameras and this works well for me.0 -
Duracell ultra are the ones for heavy loads ,plus more for clocks, remotes etc.Cameras are very heavy for batteries. I think the ultras are 2850 mah's but duracell website isn't saying and there's nothing on the batteries.NiMh rechargables are good but the highest power are dearest, prob a 2500 would be better value. Avoid older tech NiCads as they are always lower power.0
