Started the Xmas shopping got a few bits today a candle set for £25 so I got 2 which came to £50 and I got £10 worth of points for spending over 50 so that's like getting them for 20 each. Keeping a closer eye on the outgoings and going to start my meal plan for next week and try to use up what we have in the cupboards and freezers to keep the spends down I have budgeted 300 for food for the 4 of us. So going to bro g it in under for once.

Been thinking long and hard to today about my nan who passed away a while a go thinking about her make do and mend wartime outlook and I am wanting to take a leaf out of her book and stop unnecessary spending and washing money on short term pleasures like chocolate when I should be thinking more long term like new bathroom and hols.

And there’s a milestone! Well done.

I was thinking the very same today. How I need not to give in to instant gratification and think about the long term picture.

    Best wishes

Got the cash out to go christmas shopping tomorrow this is money I have saved through the year if I had to get presents out of end of November I'd never manage. Got to get a list together if what I've got to get. We brought sticky vinyl tiles for the kitchen and we've started putting them down and they look brill cleaner than what was down when we moved in last year.

  • Debt for the start of Jan is
    Bar card 5933.95
    San card 506.00
    M card 3305.00
    Sant card 2400.00
Also have had to have a new card so we have had a loan for 5000.

This year I am going to concentrate on losing weight and debt lol:D. I've piled on a stone this year and I'm out boy breath just going up the stairs this is totally unacceptable. Doing the 1p a day plan for 2019 already enveloped 5 weeks worth. My real problem is staying motivated I'm alright Jan and Feb then I go off the rails.

I too want to concentrate on weight but staying out of debt as we have taken on a five year mortgage to buy our retirement cottage
So we are in debt by a total of 45,000

Our son is buying our present house cheaply at 500 a month but my husband has just retired so for a short while yet we don't know the retirement income
So we will ve asset heavy (as house is staying in our name) and of course we have our retirement cottage

Have you ever done a SOA to see if any one can help

Off to find the penny a day challenge :)
    Emergency fund £10,000
    Several categories with savings in
    Cars, house maintenance, birthdays
Etc I have about 10 categories

Really happy to be debt free after being a compulsive spender
  • Picked up the car today. I have a stinking cold so not feeling up to much today. Going to make a stew tomorrow so we can have a couple of quick healthy meals I'm back at work Wednesday. dd2 is going to the cinema and for pizza for a friend's bday I'm driving the new car tomorrow so wish me luck, the rest of us are having cottage pie. Done some food shopping I said we don't need a lot 50 later. I updated my freezer list yesterday we do have plenty in there.

  • Child minder dropped a bombshell she's break I g up 14 August next year so it looks me and oh won't be able to have any holiday together. Everything feels up in the air and I hate it I like everything to be organised and settled. Even though I got in trouble at work last year as I book my holiday Jan as I know when I need but apparently that's selfish even when I book my holiday around child minder and oh holidays.

Happy New year and nsds to come.

Managed 1nsd for the month so far. Had 20 refund for the car tax for the old car. So need to go to the bank and cash the cheque also counted 35 in change to pay in at the same time and then I can pay extra on a credit card. Hopefully now the kids are back at school and everyone's back at work things will return to normal.

3 nsds this week that makes 4 total for the month. Thought I had a month free of council tax and water but I was wrong. At the moment 4.94 overdrawn on main account so need to be more aware of spending. Tomorrow I normally order a sandwich at work but I have made my own lunch to take its only 2.50 but every penny helps.
