Sounds like you made the right choice. A relationship with someone like that would be draining and stop being fun pretty quickly. Sounds like she needs some professional help maybe, but I do believe from what you said it's better you didn't continue. Be prepared she might contact you out the blue again looking for validation. It's your call but maybe be careful you don't get pulled into something through feeling sorry for her.
