Do I need a new PC?

OP, do you have an install disc for your current or desired operating system? Assuming you have a desktop, not a laptop...
My suggestion would be to add an SSD drive as the primary drive, and move the current HDD to be a secondary drive.
Partition the SSD into two (C: and, for instance) and use C: for the operating system, and
for downloads and any casual data.
Keep the bulk of your data on the secondary drive.
Your current data just stays on the current drive, which gets moved to be the secondary, so you have no data migration process from old drive to new. You just keep your current stuff where it is0 -
Brand name and model number?0

Still using a 2006 laptop here just fine, my parents are using my 10 year old desktop just fine. Upgrade the hard drive the OS and programs are installed on to a SSD, the difference will be like night and day. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm running Chrome on two XP machines. XP preceded Vista, so if it works with XP, it should work with Vista.
I get a warning that there won't be any more updates, but I ignore it.
Wish i knew where you lived - you are a hackers dream - XP is exploit city !!
Keep an eye out for shady cars with pringle tins sticking out of the window0 -

I've said it before on this forum, but the only time I've had a virus was when one of them was running Vista....
I fear you're being overly alarmist.0 -

No i was just having a little chuckle to myself really - Not trying to alarm anyone
Im not talking about viruses but rather the ease in which i could completely own your system, inside out, just be being on the same network as you , or tricking you into going to a website i had made.
The amount of unpatched widely known exploits for XP are incredible
Reverse meterpreter shell anyone ??0 -
I doubt very much you'd be able to 'trick' me into going to your website.
..and how would you manage to get 'onto the same network' as me?0 -

You wouldnt need to interact with it atall, just simply visiting it would have you exploited
Or i could put my exploit code into an advert and insert it on another site - with XP the possibilities are endless..and how would you manage to get 'onto the same network' as me?0
