Collision while being overtaken

What on earth makes you think you're ever going to get a link to it? As if your opinion matters to any of this, let alone enough to make me edit it and upload it for you.
I wouldn't worry too much about it.
AdrianC only wants you to post the video footage so that he can criticize your driving and he will do this even if he has to lie about what the video actually shows, something that he tried on me in this forum. When I pointed out that he was mistaken in his comment, he went strangely silent on that point.0 -
I have absolutely no idea what you are on about. I'm sure you'll be so kind as to post a link to remind me.0

You were so eager to find fault with my driving, you stated that I stopped my vehicle because I was surprised by the other car yet the footage clearly shows that my car never actually stopped moving. And you did absolutely nothing but continue straight towards him as if he wasn't there, for over two whole seconds after he clearly passed the lights. Then you stopped, seemingly surprised. Hell, he reacted more quickly and positively than you appeared to.
If you can't even tell when a car is moving and when it has stopped, should you really be commenting on other people's driving?0 -
So that's it? Whether you actually fully stopped after almost driving into the side of the other car, or merely nearly did?
From an 18mo thread?

The only reason I commented in this thread was because of what you posted on page 1.So that's it? Whether you actually fully stopped after almost driving into the side of the other car, or merely nearly did?
From an 18mo thread?
Wow.
So I went from stopping to nearly stopping to almost driving into the side of the other car (yet the video footage shows that I slowed down and gave it a wide berth) so it appears that you are also someone who has observation problems.Yes, lots of drivers observe badly.
If you are going to continually attempt to point score by attacking other people who come on here for help and advice, you should really try to make sure that you are 100% correct in what you post.0 -
Hi,
This morning on the way to work I was driving down a single lane country road when a car started following me and driving really aggressively behind me. I tried to ignore it and just concentrate on the road ahead. The next bend in the road I swerved to avoid a pot-hole and to my complete surprise hit the other car WHO WAS ALONG SIDE ME TRYING TO OVERTAKE!!
We stopped and the driver was incredibly aggressive, accused me of trying to run him off the road. He wrote down his details and drove off, but I was shaken by his aggressiveness and in the heat of the moment I didn't note down his registration number. All I have is his name and insurer - which I really hope are not fake
He said it was 100% my fault and I would have to be paying for his car. I don't see how this is possible, but he was adamant he would be telling his insurance company this.
I have called my insurance company and told them what happened and they have processed it as a no-fault claim.
What happens now? How will they decide who's fault it was? There were no witnesses other than ourselves. My friend thinks my car will be declared a write-off as every panel on the drivers side is dented and damaged. If I accept my insurers offer of a rental car while mine is being assessed, but it comes down as a fault or 50/50 incident, will I have to pay?
Never been in this situation before. I am certain I did nothing wrong but the other driver has made me doubt myself
Where I live (and I suspect photome may live as well) there are many single track country lanes where the legal speed limit may be 60 mph but anything over 30 (or even 25!) is bonkers and asking for trouble. If I have an "aggressive" driver behind me I slow down (I want to reduce any possible rear impact damage) and pull over to the left at a suitable passing place and let them overtake me. I'm not bothered - I simply do not want an aggressive driver behind me. Interestingly, my wife tends to be intimidated by aggressive drivers and has a tendency to speed up (although otherwise she is a much more skilful driver than me). But if you have an idiot behind you, slow down and let them pass rather than drive at a speed that may not be safe. If they want to overtake at an unsafe bend, the facts speak for them themselves.
And if the OP is driving to work - don't they know where the potholes are?
Also I'm a cyclist. I don't trust aggressive drivers behind me on single track lanes and I don't want to hold them up. I pull over and let them by. I don't want to end up in a wheelchair or eating food through a straw because of their (or my!) stupidity. You could claim compensation but where does that get you? It's compensation for a lost part of your life. It doesn't get you physical or mental ability back.
mirror, signal, manoeuvre. I run over massive potholes all the time. If you know you have an aggressive driver behind you, pull over and let them past - they are !!!!heads - you don't have to be0 -
100% the fault of the OP in my opinion.
If you're travelling too slow and aren't aware of the width of your car then you must make sure your observation skills are there to compensate.
If you were travelling so slow that another driver was forced to overtake you to make progress why on earth didn't you see the pothole and take the more appropriate evasive action of slowing down.
I think the reticence about the dash cam is because in reality you did what a lot of drivers do in this situation and were annoyed when a driver reacted to your slow speed by overtaking and chose to speed up at that point to teach them a lesson about your "proper way to drive".0 -

Sorry (I know it's from an old thread) but you set off on red & amber there (not green) when the Merc driver was obviously coming through (absolutely no doubt he was equally silly). And instead of stopping you swerved around him.I pulled away at a green traffic light
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/light-signals-controlling-trafficRED AND AMBER also means !!!8216;Stop!!!8217;. Do not pass through or start until GREEN shows0 -
I did not pass the lights before they were green. There was green showing in front of me before I passed the lights and the road markings
(as clearly shown in these photographs):

Yes, I went around the other car which IMO, was the sensible thing to do.
The lane to my right was empty so switching to that one presented no danger to anyone and as there was a car directly behind me, there was a good possibility that if I stopped very shortly after pulling away from the lights, I may have ended up with them driving straight into the rear of my car.
Why stop in what could leave my vehicle in a compromised position when there was absolutely no need to do so and I could easily go around the stopped vehicle who was aware of my presence due to my giving him a toot of my horn?
If everyone stopped when there was no requirement and a simple and safe manoeuvre would suffice to resolve the issue, our roads would be far more gridlocked than they are now.0 -
He definitely shouldn't be rying to overtake on a bend in the road. Could he say what was coming in the opposite direction?0
