Hi, just wanted to say I tried to negotiate arrears payments with the CSA, they refused, stating that they had to be paid within 2 years. They also stated that if I didn't pay the amount requested they would take it direct from my wages.
I have requested a letter from them stating that all negotiation was refused and that they stipulated that it MUST be paid within 2 years. Still waiting.
Have written to my MP who's looking into it for me.

Keep us posted as we are all wanting to know how they are justifying this action considering that it is a blatant LIE that it HAS to be repaid within 2 years.

With regard to my case i have never been told that my debt has to be repaid within 2 years. However i have never spoken to them on the phone. One of my questions still needs an answer, even though there is a deo in place for an amount the csa deem acceptable, can i tell my employer to deduct a lesser amount? ie 40% of my net take home pay

You won't be able to tell employer to deduct a smaller amount. They will have been advised by CSA what deductions to make and if they don't adhere to that then they are breaking the law.

Once a DEO is in place, it is very rarely lifted until the debt has been paid.

Thanks for that, my point is that i think that the deduction is wrong. They are taking over 50& of my gross, yes gross pay leaving me with just 80 quid per week. My rent is 80 quid per week! Ill just put up with this for 1 more month and if it isnt straightened out i am positive that i will be sacked. I will be much better off letting the state support me.

What system are you on? Cs1 or CS2? What is your current assessment and does it need updating?

    Remember its all arrears.
Conversion of an IMA was completed in March of this year. CSA has decided that my protected earnings are just short of £350.00 per month. I only take home about £650.00 per month (well I did before the DEO). The DEO is for just over £350.00 per month....so basically I am left with £350.00 per month. As I have said my rent is £260.00 per month, so I am left with £90.00 per month to get to work, food and all the usual stuff.
If I let the state look after me and at this rate I will have to, I won't be ANY worse off because I wont need my bangor to get to work and I ll end up with my rent paid and about £60.00 per week in my pocket. Result!

    Hi

CS2 was introduced for new claims on and after March 2003

Should just add here, if the "relevant date" was before march 2003 but the assessment wasn't made until after this date (2006 in my case as agency went quiet after I returned forms in April 2003), the CS1 calculation is used and backdated (Not, as I was told in April 2003, the CS2 calculation and backdated)

 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.
