Didn't 5th Gear once test Redex and found it increased power by 6 bhp on a 1995 VW Corrado?

It certainly made a difference on my 94 Rover 214 16v. Pre modification they were renowned for coking up the exhaust valves. You had to disconnect a vacuum pipe from the manifold and dunk it in a bottle of redex. What a glorious smoke plume floating down the road
