Why is our houses now unsaleable? Is it becuause this counts as dispute?0 -
Unsellabe because nobody wants a drive and garage they can't drive or park a car down.
You pay more for those things. To have them purely for cosmetic reasons and then to have no parking would automatically stop me looking further.
You bought your house with off road parking and a garage.
What's the other side of your 1.25 is it grass? Can you not extend you 1.25 on your side and form a driveway?0 -

Our houses are 2.5m apart. now the fence is 1.25m away from side of my house all along length of my house, I cant move the house to make this 1.25m wider.0 -

No, they might not, but there again, they just might, and so might OP whose potential buyer may well want to know what the heck was going on. I wouldn't be thrilled at such a set up and might suspect something is going on.
Oh and btw, Harold and Albert Steptoe did actually remove their 'boundary' as they realised the futility of cutting off their noses to spite their faces, especially as neither of them ever got to see more than half a tv progrsmme.0 -

Keep an eye out for planning applications, maybe his is planning to extend to the boundary.
If he isn't, start dropping hints that you will now that the space can't be used for a drive.0 -
I meant did you have a front garden or anything you could utilise on your side of the 1.25 but ok.

You need to take proper legal advice and get the legal position confirmed.
This type of build with a shared driveway was quite common at one time, but there would be a right for each party to use (but not park on) the full width of the driveway to get to their garage.
If you don't challenge it now and just leave it, you will just make things worse should either of you ever wish to sell ...0 -

If the driveway was indeed "shared" it would be noted as such in the deeds. Ditto if they each had right of way over each other's half.0 -
What would be the point of building a house with a garage that could not be used?
Do any other neighbouring houses have the same set up. I wonder if it might be worth asking if they have shared access stated on their deeds.0
