If you get calls off people you don't want to talk to you cut them off and block them!

    It's Waitrose;
The suggestion on this forum is to always complain to the retailer.

Did you read this in the NEWBIES thread:
ALL CASES - COMPLAIN FIRST, ESPECIALLY OVER A RETAIL, HOTEL, OR HOSPITAL CAR PARK:

Always complain to the Retailer very quickly and assertively, WITH A RECEIPT IF POSSIBLE:

Successful complaints about private parking tickets - how to get them cancelled! <<< CLICK

See how easy it can be to get these cancelled by a retailer/hotel/landowner. VERY EFFECTIVE AND DAMAGES THE PPC!
    From that linked thread:
Waitrose- See Store Manager in person and/or contact Customer Services on their website link; or complain on Facebook/Twitter. Waitrose will cancel it.

Of course - but I deal with things by thinking through what might happen and trying to prepare for it.

But they won't - the Customer Services supervisor I spoke to said they wouldn't even cancel the fine she got for overstaying when she was working

(Yes, I have read the Newbies' thread, and I'm going to be using the template there for the appeal.)

    The suggestion was:
See Store Manager in person - did you do that?

    Followed by:
contact Customer Services on their website link - have you done that?

I guess you have not done this either:
    complain on Facebook/Twitter.

When I went in straight after getting the letter, I hadn't yet had time to go searching for advice, so I didn't even admit I'd had a letter. I just asked them where I could see their terms and conditions. One Customer Services assistant and two supervisors were unable to show me them, or tell me where I could find them.

I have only gained posting access to this forum this morning, and am now taking on board the advice offered. What should I do if I ask for the Store Manager and get told they're not available for a week?

    (3) I can't make a complaint to the landowner or ask them to cancel the fine, as they have already told me in the shop they have been instructed not to accept these letters from customers "because of Data Protection" (even though it's MY data on the letter?). So should I just delete that paragraph?
You most certainly can, AND MUST, make a complaint to the landowner. You can also call them out for lying, because their "Data Protection" excuse if a complete load of bo*****s, and they know it.

Stop worrying about offending people. They are the ones who are dishing it out by way of the parking notice, so give them some back.

[As an aside, whenever anyone uses any of the excuses for not helping or not doing something:
    • Anti-terrorism
    • Child Protection
    • 'Elf n Safely
    • Data Protection
you should become immediately suspicious of their motives and why they are too lazy to help, coming out with ridiculous excuses for not doing something.]

    Either:

    1) make an appointment in a weeks time, or

    2) ask to speak to the person who is deputising for that week, or

    3) get in touch with their head office customer services via their website, or

    4) complain to them on facebook, or

    5) complain to them on twitter.

You said it yourself earlier... you have no imagination. ;)

But that's my point - I am the Keeper, I am the person they've sent the letter to, I am the person whose phone number they could get in ten seconds, and I am the person who would end up answering the phone to them. Obviously I wouldn't give them any information over the phone - or indeed at all - but I've never been involved in anything like this before and I'm just nervous about it.

But it's only Britannia! They are not aggressive. Here is my view on them at Waitys:

I am genuinely disappointed when I don't get a love letter from that lot!

Apart from complaining more, do the usual appeal, now TODAY, online/by email.

It's a scam. In the extremely unlikely event that anyone calls you, treat it exactly as if it was a Nigerian Prince or Microsoft/Windows scam.

Alternatively tell them you charge for your time and you want to know where and to whom you should send the invoice so they can pay YOU, or tell them you cannot divulge any information due to the DPA.

You should also complain to your MP and Sir Greg Knight MP about this unregulated scam. MPs called them bloodsuckers, so get complaining!

... and DO send the template appeal exactly as it is before the appeal deadline. Copy and paste and send. No thinking involved.

    Show the store manager this.

These are some of the comments made by the MPs in Parliament concerning the unregulated parking industry (Feb 2018):

    https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2018-02-02/debates/CC84AF5E-AC6E-4E14-81B1-066E6A892807/Parking(CodeOfPractice)Bill

''Rip-offs from car park Cowboys must stop''; unfair treatment; signage deliberately confusing to ensure a PCN is issued; ''years of abuse by rogue parking companies''; bloodsuckers; ''the current system of regulation is hopeless, like putting Dracula in charge of the blood-bank''; extortionate fines; rogue operators; ''sense of injustice''; unfair charges and notices; wilfully misleading; signage is a deliberate act to deceive or mislead; ''confusing signs are often deliberate, to trap innocent drivers''; unreasonable; a curse; harassing; operating in a disgusting way; appeals service is no guarantee of a fair hearing; loathed; outrageous scam; dodgy practice; outrageous abuse; unscrupulous practices; ''the British Parking Association is as much use as a multi-storey car park in the Gobi desert''; and finally, by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists and ordinary residents should not have to put up with this''.

These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.

This is why thousands of people who have never had this scam before, suddenly are:

See the link provided by Fruitcake above, watch the video it will open your eyes! MPs get it.
