This isn't a thread I'm aware of. Could you give me the link please?
Thanks
Hi MSE Andrea
I am stuck at home having a boiler installed so more active on here than usual!
Anyway on Ames's behalf this is the thread

Absolutely Ames.
Seems like it suits MSE for existing posters to "sort out" trolls. But, all that is happening is that regular and informed posters (like Sangie) are hassled off the board and the place becomes lesser for that. And the trolls return
It would appear that MSE has no strategy, nor is prepared to invest a bit, for dealing with the trolls that perpetuate these forums. Very sadly, those who arrive here in a vulnerable state, possibly following Martin's name, are afforded no protection against incorrect advice/information by MSE.
As I have said before MSE Andrea says, in her biog, that she engages with CitA in campaigns. As a CitA volunteer I would have hoped she would learn from that interaction that some posters come here in a very raw and exposed state. The last thing they need is trolling or, deliberate, misinformation.
I, sincerely, hope that one day Martin Lewis revisits this forum so he can understand what is really going on under his name
Hi NeilCr
You're absolutely right.
We have many new forum members, and lurkers coming to MSE who may be vulnerable, looking for genuine, friendly help and assistance.
As you suggest, they may not know whether what they're being told is correct.
None of the information posted by members of the public on the Forum is checked out so everyone should always do their own research before they take any steps themselves, including reading our researched guides on the main site.
The last thing we want, though, is new visitors put off asking questions of their own because they've seen long term forum members being unfriendly to new forum members.
Regulars absolutely can reply if they disagree with a poster - it's what the forum's all about - members just need to ensure their replies aren't unfriendly.
Please report any suspicions as usual and let our team take a look.
Thank you!Could you do with a Money Makeover?

So, the next time a "new" poster starts a thread about uggs, school uniform, toilet problems at school/doing pe in underwear and it is reported by the first person to see it, it will be removed as spam?
I do hope so!
Hi thorsoak
This kind of example would need to be reported using the report button.

Thank you Andrea - sadly, my experience has been that although I (and many others) have reported many posts of this ilk, nothing happens :-( I do hope that this will change soon.
I have been of the opinion that the so-called "new" members of the forum are treated far more kindly and given the benefit of the doubt than those of us who have more years behind our membership than we care to remember. And we do remember the offending themes - even if the mods don't :-(0 -

It's concerning that the Site Feedback board is seemingly never viewed by the forum editorial team (the thread was started six weeks ago). Makes you wonder what the purpose of the board is!0 -
Polly, I think you have missed the point
The person Im referring to, uses PM to befriend and build a clique of posters to do the reporting. You know it happens as you too were targeted a couple of years ago
I cant say any more on the open forum but believe me, its happening
Sorry, Suki.
You're right, I got hold of the wrong end of the stick.
I thought it was about somebody sending nasty PMs.
That's a pretty difficult situation for any forum moderator to deal with.0 -

When 4 or 5 people have reported the same AE?
Sure I might be wrong, someone else might be wrong, but all of us???
end of the day the forum team aren't forum users. They don't see the patterns, they cant spot the AEs which most of us old-timers do within the opening line of a post0 -

I probably didn!!!8217;t believe him/her anyway.
I tend to be a bit cynical about people washing dirty linen in public.
The only ones I remember are those who claim to have done umpteen jobs, have umpteen qualifications and don!!!8217;t remember what they said before.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

What?
Use the function that isn't working?
Or have you fixed the problem?0
