I do see your point Johno100, but it all depends on what the contract says and whether the person gives any value in a career ladder per se.
If the person was me and I only had a year or so to go to retirement I'd snap the job up for the reasons you've stated, if not however it's a demotion in real terms and their new supervisor, conscious of the fact they now have a member of staff under them that can do their job and is effectively 'waiting in the wings' could make their working life a total nightmare.0 -
Someone had offered me another post on the same hours and money but with less responsibility I'd have bitten their hand off.I wouldn’t
If it is a suitable alternative then the choice is take it or resign.
Many would take the role while looking for a more suitable replacement to keep the cash rolling in.
It is generally though it is easier to get a job if you have one.0
