Everywhere I have worked, you phone in every day that you are self certifying but when you have a doctor's certificate you don't need to. That's just repeating the information that's already been provided and a waste of everyone's time.0

Dr note...............no. I was off nearly 3 months. They were more than happy with the notes.
Other times, yes everyday.
"Hello, its xxxxxx still sick. Bye"0 -
Where I work, it's phone in on the first day and discuss whether or not you'll need to phone daily.
Last time, my boss said I sounded dreadful and asked me to give an update in two days ... because I clearly wasn't going to be fit the next day!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Look at the data breach OP mentioned in his previous post. All he has to say is that he told the company he was going to tell the ICO about this (basically whistleblowing) and they've sacked him using the medical grounds as an excuse.
Thanks for that though - I hadn't realised the regulations had been extended in 2012. I work in HR myself but every department I've ever worked in this would never even cross our minds to do. Normally looking at cases like this after 6 months probation.
No he can't. You can't use whistleblowing protection if the complaint you have made to a regulatory body involved behaviour directed towards yourself. It only applies if you are being 100% altruistic
Blimey, where did you get your HR qualifications - that's as basic as the qualifying period for unfair dismissal. Do you really advise employers in real life! I feel sorry for them and their employees0 -

Did they say they were qualified? "Working in HR" covers an awful lot - doing the filing to setting strategy.0 -

If I was only making the tea for a department I wouldn't be on a thread telling everyone what each and every department would do in this situation (with entirely wrong facts and legislation...)0 -
