Sent in sick note - do I need to phone every day

Hello
I've been off sick from work since last week and got a sick note from my
doctor on Monday and sent it to my manager.
He has just rang me and said I need to ring in every day, it just stressed me out.
As I'm signed off for 4 weeks, IMO they can ring me up weekly and see how I am if the wish
and I can call them a day or two before the sick note expires, but why should I ring every day?
I'm looking for my works sickness policy but I think it's wrong to ring every day when I'm
not well and sent the sick note.

Given your history at the company, do you think it wise to ignore a reasonable instruction from your employer?
PS - maybe have the courtesy to feedback on the outcome of your previous threads before asking questions about your employers sickness policy which we don!!!8217;t have access to.Originally Posted by shortcrust

Does anyone know what the legal position is, ie sicknote/fit note sent, why should I be harassed
daily, ie having to phone into the manger that hates my guts as she cannot do her job.0 -

Why not phone in before they arrive in the morning, leaving a voicemail message along the lines of:
"simon2018 phoning in as requested. Still sick. Still signed off for [x] weeks, [y] days. Goodbye"
Repeat for a month. Hardly stressful is it?0 -
No you don't need to phone in every day you need to find another job.
Out of interest how long have you worked there for and how long have you been off sick ?0 -

Do you really imagine it's against the law to ask an employee to call in on each day of sickness?0 -
I was in hospital, on oxygen and almost unable to speak... I still had to call my manger everyday.0

Get your dear old Mum to make the calls for you. It won't stress you out or interfere with your convalesence / lie in / watching Jezza on the telly.0

Second week off sick mate. Rang every day last week, ie sick from Monday.
Saw doc this Monday, sent in sick note and rang the manager before my start time ie 7am on monday, then rang it again in the morning when I got my sick notes and emailed that, posted a hard copy and emailed HR with my sick note. Notes for 4 weeks and I will update the manager the day before the note ends.
