Only got the chance to skim read, but it would appear that HI are completely clueless as to what POPLA is, they appear to think it has some statutory authority, when POPLA has nothing of the sort.
    From the Plain Language Commission:

"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"

Potentially point out to them that THEY hired PE, THEY can TELL PE what to do.
POPLA is not binding on the motorist, and is not binding on the hotel.
Would htey accept their cleaning contractor telling them the room cleaning request can be ignored?

Yes it is very odd the stance taken, no doubt they're trying to get rid of me by false statements. An IHG corporate customer has taken note of this and has contacted the hotel expressing their displeasure........

My MP has responded.... I have no doubt he is very busy but could of at least recognised his constituent as Mr not Ms......

    Dear Ms Gray,

I am so sorry about your troublesome parking fine. I can understand your distress, but I regret that I cannot get involved with individual fines, for reasons which I am sure you will understand.

Thank you again for taking the trouble to write, and I am so sorry to have to disappoint you.

    With every good wish,

    Michael

Subject: Letter from your constituent Jody Gray

    Tuesday 24 April 2018

    Dear Michael Gove,

I recieved a parking fine from 'parking eye' after parking my car at

the Holiday inn in desperation having become suddenly very ill on my

way to work in Guildford, it was the nearest location with bathroom

facilities. It was nearly an hour before I felt it was safe to return

home - I had no idea of the parking restrictions as I was in

    considerable distress.

I complained to 'parking eye' then POPLA who wouldn't take into

account the mitigating circumstances. The C.A.B advised me to contact

the 'Holiday Inn' directly which I did and was very happy when they

emailed me to say they would contact 'Parking Eye' to cancel the fine

but more than that they were understanding of the circumstances and

    offered kind sympathies.

A few days later they emailed me to say that because POPLA had

rejected the appeal they would no longer cancel the fine.

It's been a frustrating roller coaster ride but seems I have to pay

£100 for acting responsibly whilst in distress and considering health

and safety of myself and others - given the same circumstances I would

no doubt of done the same.

It's unfair to be fined for doing the right thing and the 'Holiday

Inn' shouldn't of told me they intended to cancel only to change their

mind when Parking Eye wouldn't agree.

I have investigated Parking Eye through the comprehensive 'money

supermarket' website to find they amongst other like companies are

indeed of an unscrupulous nature. I have opened a 'thread' there and

found many people very supportive who are following this case.

I write to you in desperation as all my other avenues have been

exhausted, please help. I have very young children who I teach the

importance of doing the right thing and paying this fine which my

family can ill afford contravenes this.

I would gratefully appreciate any assistance and hope you understand

that this fine is inappropriate given the circumstances.

    Yours sincerely,

    Jody Gray

Keith, I deleted my address and phone number details - I'm not that concerned about the email address, every day there's plenty of rubbish arriving in my inbox - I will change my email address soon and be more careful where I leave it in the future. Thanks for that.

Keith, I should point out that without my email address being present then I wouldn't of received correspondence today from the IHG corporate customer who may well be of great help. But I agree with you especially with the current data crisis ongoing I should and will be much more careful when on the internet. I have learned so much from MSE and will promote it where possible.

I don't suppose it matters too much.

The whole point on this board is to make it impossible to relate posts on here to a specific parking incident, but seeing as your forum username is your real name that 'protection' has already been thrown away.

As Quentin said in the first reply you received on this thread:

Understood. However I take pride in being honest and reliable, all comments in this thread I stand by and have no problem with defending my comments - of course I'm not always right but what I say is what I truly believe at that point which has seen me lead a mostly happy life and pride in what I do.

Michael Gove = as much use as a chocolate teapot, IMHO (I work in a school!).
