That thing where something turns a single apostrophe into loads of numbers and exclamation marks is still broken!

Hi!

Wednesday's maintenance moved the forum to HTTP and didn't include that, which isn't something we're working on at the moment.

Have you or the people it's affecting read the guidelines in our sticky on that?

I've glanced at the sticky, but as it doesn't affect my posts there's nowt I can do.
I go an many forums and this only happens on here - therefore I conclude that it is an MSE forum that really needs fixing, so maybe you ought to be working on it perhaps???

And it's a forum problem not a user problem. Don't believe me?

This official MSE first post from back in 2016 is showing the problem:

So it's not a user issue.

Very strange -I've just posted elsewhere on MSE and the apostrophe problem struck. Never happened before. I'm using a laptop, not a mobile. Any way was able to go back into the post and correct it. I could get paranoid.

Yes, just edit the post and remove the extra characters. I've had to do it a couple of times when I've pasted things into a post.
