Well that was an enjoyable watch. Andrew Pester (appropriate name) trying to defend the indefensible again, this time the focus being on ANPR double dipping...

Wasn't even particularly harsh interviewing, would love to have seen him on Hard Talk!

I hope someone has a video of the bit where the BPA chief admitted that the ANPR systems are not 100% accurate. Should be an automatic submission in any court case for double dipping!

Ah, but he was quick to emphasise what robust processes existed to deal with errors :p
  • Yes it!!!8217;s was pretty bad shame they didn!!!8217;t slate other companies as we know parking eye are one of the worst.

How they hell do they expect everyday people to keep physical data proof of their vehicles whereabouts.

I got caught on double dipping in a company vehicle and claimed my companies tracker data proved the case and they dropped it. Lucky for me as our cars aren!!!8217;t tracked on commercial vehicles.

Their own camera data showed the lady in question proved here various visits and yet they don!!!8217;t drop the case as it!!!8217;s all a scam of Thrests hopping you bottle it and pay.

Which was dispelled when it was pointed out that it was post PPC appeal and POPLA that PE had to capitulate with Watchdog involvement. And also the lady who had witnesses to show she was elsewhere too.

Boy Pester was weak. The presenter Nikki even laughed about him at the end!

He stated one of the problems was the ANPR reading an O as an 0, what a load of cobblers how many VRN's are there that, that could happen?

The greatest number of vehicles have the AA 99 AAA format.

That Pester was awful at least Trouserfire could dodge a question professionally. He was just dodgy at filming with his phone!

He should be quoted in any POPLA appeal that questions the accuracy of ANPR cameras (double dip, or other cases) to try and head off POPLA coming back with this template put-down.
"In terms of the technology of the ANPR cameras themselves, the British Parking Association audits the ANPR systems in use by parking operators in order to ensure that they are in good working order and that the data collected is accurate. Independent research has found that the technology is generally accurate".
Not so - as confirmed on television by Andrew Pester, Head of the BPA.

I wonder what his staff will say to him this morning when he gets to work and asks, "How do you think I did last night?"

Lots of coughing and clearing of throats! :)

Suspect there was some sort of legal threat in the background. The BBC are under a lot of scrutiny to keep their reporting fair and unbiased.

Dealing with media savvy organisations like the AA and the BPA will be under tight rules so as not to have yet another court case.
