Only in as much as the tone of your post suggested it was a surprise and not the court you wanted. Sorry to put the frighteners in!

I think once it's been allocated to a local court, MCOL are no longer involved.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • Ah ok - not such an issue as Grimsby is marginally further away than Doncaster

    What does this mean?...
I received court witness statements today...

    Please don't assume any dates.

Have another read of the letter from the court. Did it say something like:
Each party must deliver to every other party and to the court office copies of all documents on which he intends to rely at the hearing no later than [ . . . ] [14 days before the hearing].

You didn't get that letter from the Claimant, it came from your local Court.

No Im sure it came from the claimant direct as it has a cover letter on their headed paper and the envelope has their address printed on
it also says they have submitted a copy filed with the courts - - SO I am in the court on 4th June ? - It says I have to provide witness statements to them and the court no later than 21 days before the hearing - any offers of assistance ?

Sounds like your court sent both copies to them by mistake so the solicitor put yours in with their serving of the WS and evidence. At least you saw it.

The assistance about WITNESS STATEMENTS is all in the NEWBIES thread already. Easy stage, plus your chance to field evidence, plus your chance to demolish theirs.
