SF's road to MF/FIRE: Part I

July 28th.
How is it almost the end of July already?! It is just stupid how fast time seems to be going at the moment.
It's been a spend day today. We said to DS1 that when he chose to get rid of his dummies, then he'd get a toy. Well, he chose this morning to put them in the bin so we popped to Sainbury's where he got to choose a toy. I was worried about how bedtime would go without them but it was surprisingly straight forward. Helped that he was really tired.
We also popped in to see DH's Aunt and Uncle, which was nice. We don't see them often enough really. DS1 had a great time running around their garden and trying to climb their apple tree. DS2 just sat on my knee and smiled at everyone.
Tomorrow is our food spend day but going to try and keep it fairly low. I am also really wanting a roast dinner so I'm going to do a chicken dinner tomorrow. Can't wait

Sunday 29th July.
Well, what a change in the weather here. It's been raining on and off all day, plus it's a lot cooler and gloomy. But, I love it! BOth boys are not a fan of the heat and it has been really affecting their sleep so I'm very much welcoming the cooler temperatures in our house. In fact, I'm much more of a winter person, so if it wants to stay a little cooler, fine by me.
I've done our food shop today and wasn't buying as much so I thought it would be cheaper. It was, but not as much as I'd hoped. When you're buying things like formula, nappies, wipes and other household things, it adds up so quickly. And it's not as if I'm buying lots of extras each week; I'm really not.
DH's sister and her husband are coming for tea, so I am in the process of cooking a roast chicken dinner with yorkshires (obviously!) followed by HM apple and blackberry crumble and custard. Yumjust hope that DS1 actually tries some of it. He's really funny with foods, so I'm not holding out much hope.
Other than that, nothing else to report today. Should get another dividend payment on Tuesday, so will wait and see how much that is.

I wanted a roast dinner today aswell and I'm sure it was due to the change in weather. I ended up with jacket potato, cheese and beans!
Have only just seen your question re: our extension SF. We had a small existing extension which was our utility and downstairs loo. We extended that out another 8 feet to create a bigger utility and shower room downstairs, then above it we created a fourth bedroom which dd now has. We did some internal works too which extended our kitchen-diner into playroom so we have a family area to it aswell and we also created a snug. House is brilliant now and we could never imagine moving. I really hope your plans work for you.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

August 4th.
I'm not great at remembering to fill this out.
To be honest, I'm struggling a little with my mood at the moment. My anxiety is flaring up a lot and I'm not entirely sure why. It's making me feel quite low and not wanting to do anything, including logging on here. It's also making me make very poor food choices, which then turns into a viscous cycle as I'm hating how I look.
Finances wise, we're doing ok. The start of the month is always expensive as the majority of our DDs go out on the first of the month. This is so we know how much we have left; though still on a lower household income is having an impact so when we're back to normal in September that will help.
Not much else to report, plodding along.Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

SF, I wonder if the heat is having more of an effect on you than you realise? I can't bear it this hot, and I'm finding I just don't do anything except the basics, and even those are very late!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
