Thanks everyone, sorry I haven't replied
had to send an email in the end as no one would answer the phone! And it's still not sorted, as am waiting for a detailed enough response to make a decision about it.
I've also had chicken pox for the first time ever, which has made me feel awfulwiped me out for the last week and finally feeling a bit more human now. Looking after two young boys has been tough this week, not gonna lie...
So yes, it's been a bit rough as of late
Hoping to get back to normal asap.Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

April 15th, 2018.
Well, I'm finally back to normal. Tired, but back to normal. I'm trying to focus on eating healthily and taking care of myself a bit more. I always seem to be catching colds and feeling unwell so I'm hoping this will help.
On the downside, both boys now have chicken poxDS1 only has 2 spots so far but is tired and grumpy. DS2 (baby) has lots of spots and is struggling a bit with it. I hope it doesn't last too long. They're both sleeping at the moment so I have 5 minutes to myself for a change.
Money wise, we're doing okay. Maternity pay is rubbish but better than nothing. We've also sold some shares we held in a different account which will make our early retirement fund look better by the end of the month.
We've also been talking about potentially doing an extension on our house. We'll be staying here for a long time so it's something we're going to look into in terms of cost. If we do, we will probably extend our mortgage as it's fairly low, then hammer that once it's all completed. However, this is just in the discussion phase so nothing concrete, at all. I'm excited at the possibility though
Positives today:- NSD
- On plan SW wise
- Rainbow tulips in the kitchen make me smile

Chicken pox is no fun at all especially as an adult. On the upside both boys have it at the same time whereas one usually gets it two weeks after the other. It is no fun being housebound either.
What are you planning extension wise? Doing ours was absolutely the best decision. I love our home now and we have so much space.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Boo to the chicken pox.

Not being able to get out today was actually the toughest part. Hopefully they'll be well enough to go out in the garden tomorrow at least
The previous owners converted the garage but it's just an unused space the way they have done it. We're thinking of knocking through and creating a big kitchen/dinner/living hub downstairs and then adding another couple of bedrooms above. Just typing that makes me gowhat did you do for yours?

Is it worth thinking about moving rather than extending your current house?:) It is likely the costs involved with a 2 storey extension will exceed the gain in value depending on the type of property / location etc. etc.2018 totals:

Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -
Feel your pain with ill little un's. we had an horrific run in Nov/Dec/Jan and i definitely felt cabin fever at times - Nov we had DS2 with shingles, Dec we had DD with chicken pox and Mrs SJ having an operation the day before Christmas eve, Jan we had DS1 with tonsiilitis and DD with scarlett fever (which DS2 now has, though thankfully only mild)!
So head down and plough through it all!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
27th July, 2018.
So, I am apparently very rubbish at keeping this going
DS1 is turning three soon, which I can't believe. We're just having family round for his birthday, as he only has a couple of friends from nursery. Plus, whilst we can still get away with no big party, then we willwe havne't actually decided what we are getting him yet; he has so many toys it seems daft! But, I still want him to have something to open
as if my first born is nearly three.
DS2 is at the lovely stage of observing everything, gurgling along, wanting to play with DS1 and can't quite yet, and generally being a happy chap. He's such a different nature, it's been very interesting to see the differences between the two. Hopefully he'll be slightly more laid back than his brother....
I mentioned last time about getting an extension, well we've submitted planning permission this week and so now just waiting on that. We've had some plans drawn and am waiting for them to arrive in the post. I just hope we get the planning approved. I'm so excited about the possibility. We did look at moving, briefly, but this shouldn't cost us too much and we love where we live too. It's quiet, we have lovely neighbours and it's very convenient for various reasons. So, extension it is. In fact, I can't see us moving for a long time, bar something unexpected coming up.
Finances wise, we're doing ok. I'm not going to lie, being on maternity has been tough but not on it for much longer. We will get back onto an even footing soon, I'm sure.
I need to write here more often; it does keep me more focused and accountable, both of which I need right now

Good idea on extension.
Cheaper than moving too I would guess.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters.
