We've got an offer in on a house we've (stupidly) fallen in love with. Ours has been on the market 4 weeks but with no interest so far, despite a 8% price reduction - houses on my street normally fly off the shelf, so to speak, but the market round here is completely dead.
The vendor of the house we love knows all this but keeps saying that he hopes we can all have moved by Christmas
What a difference a few days makes! We've now had an acceptable offer, it's a very short chain and the solicitors are all OK with a completion date of 7th December. Here's hoping...↑ Things I wouldn't say to your face
↖Not my real name0 -
We had our offer accepted today subject to us completing in 4-5 weeks....Fingers crossed the Mortgage application goes well tomorrow!0

ARGGHHHH!! We are hoping to get in tomorrow to see the house again and have a proper measure up and discuss what we need to buy. :T
ARGGHHHHH!!! :rotfl: :j
I KNOW I shouldn't get excited until we have exchanged but this is my first HOME and I can't help it. :j :j0 -
I had an email this morning to say that our mortgage has been appoved and to contact my Sols. to set a date for completion (she's on leave until Monday). There is no chain involved so we are hoping to be in the new house by the end of this month - we are also going to see the house again this weekend so we can plan where to put on the furniture - plus we are so excited about it!!0

Yes we hope to be moved by Chrimbo. Chain moving well thus far but we await the complications.
Good luck all0 -
anyone moving into a brand new home please make sure you get the contact numbers for any emergency over the christmas period as most sites shut down over yule tide. you should get the card on completion but make sure you ask for it.;)my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

We exchanged on our sale and purchase today and I am ecstatic. It's taken 14 long weeks with only three in the chain!!! We are completing in two weeks. I just wanted to share so you all know there is light at the end of the tunnel.
It can be very frustrating. We had to get a lease for life removed from the deeds of the property we were purchasing and our buyers sol was closed down by the law society, but we still managed to get there.
Good luck to you all!0 -
FTB shared ownership. Put deposit down in JUNE and still awaiting a date for contracts to be drawn out! I hope we're in by Christmas!0
