  • Sigh ,

I don't know what I have done to be treated so badly by some on this thread .
It was a question and that was all .

Donnie ,Thank you for finding that thread but ,did you really have to make me feel so inadequate with the wording "oh.... you did a search did you "

I am sitting here in tears after reading your comments .I certainly don't deserve those sort of comments .What have I ever done to you ?

Forget that I ever asked the question .I just wanted advise so that I can enjoy Florida with my 3 children after the tragic death of my 41 year old husband and ,their father !!

I think it is wholly inappropriate to bring up your personal circumstances on a thread about Travel Money.

Regardless of your circumstances, these are the sort of questions that are asked time and time again.
  • Now now children play nicely! This has all got out of hand. We are supposed to be here to help each other after all. I think it was a perfectly reasonably question for the OP to ask. If anyone wanted to read the thread and give a constructive answer great. If not, then don't bother to post a reply. If you think someone should search somewhere else then at least tell them in a friendly way, there's no need for attitude! And remember - if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all! Enjoy Florida xx

When did you become class monitor??

I've posted two useful links, whereas most other posters here, including yourself, have posted irrelevant opinions.
    Who gives a hoot.....?

There's a perfectly adequate search function. Use it, before posting the same old questions.

well done donnie, you see what happens when you think before posting , you actually post a correct link to the question asked, and not a minefiled of information that dosent include the post office travel money card

it would of helped of course if you had realised the post office travel money card wasnt a credit card or a debit card and then you wouldnt have posted the incorrect link in the first place

so your original post was rude and unhelpfull

the thread was going on quite nicely with 1 reply until you took offence at the question

shame, becaue i would have liked to know more about the travel money card as i have thought about getting one and a new thread with possibly the latest info on it could have been useful

  • the bizarre thing is that it takes less time to find the info on the post office website than it took me to post this !
one problem i suspect that some posters have is that they take time to compose a post and then think why did i bother....an example used to be the age old question on here about best way to get the best rate on foreign exchange posted under various titles like " i need to buy euros"....someone composed a great list of the best rates and other posters like myself would say it's extremely hard to beat nationwide ....lo and behold somewhere down the list of replies someone would post "i find you can't beat the post office "......potentially costing an mse'r a fair amount of money.
i also think that some posters want someone to go through the time and effort to find out information on something that is widely available on the WWW and definitive....and then post what they find back on here.
the travel section seems the worse one on it on here and in the future i'm not going to bother
  • Hiya Montycat. Regardless of whether or not they'e ggod value, the PO travel money card is convenient - you can use it in ATMs and anywhere they take Visa. It's also safe as they'll refund the cash on it if your card is lost or stolen.

I've just been to the PO (I live in a rural area and can't get to anywhere that's better value!) and was pleased to find that the exchange rate this morning was $1.975, rather than the $1.95 that's quoted on the travel money maximiser.

If you haven't got time to open a Nationwide account and can't get further afield, I don't think it's too bad.

Have a lovely holiday - you deserve it!

yes hammy the old euros question does get repeated, and a good job too because things change, pins list got updated when the same old same old question got asked after i i pointed something out

and as for the post office low rate, yes almost certainly true, but i got a shock when i walked into my local main city post office and found they were doing a trial during the summer and had the best in town available, better than m&s

situations change , rates change, the post office travel money card is now free but wasnt a while ago

getting info from the post office webisite is all well and good if you understand the legal jargon and have time to trawl through T&cs, or you can simply ask

what do you think? seems a fair question to me

give the same old questions threads a miss if it bothers you, i will still look and try and learn something new

i'd just get a nationwide flex account and nationwide credit card...i'm open to be influenced but can't see even one benefit of the PO card against the nationwide cards.
i'd be interested to see how much the difference was between the PO's exchange rates and M&S

You STILL haven't posted any information pertinent to the original question.

The reason why I didn't make reference to the PO Travel Money Card....wait for it...... is because it's rubbish!

Like a Debit card, but worse. So yes, go ahead and get one. :rotfl:

I pointed the OP to the recommendations. Obviously wasn't enough for you. You wanted me to hold you hand too.
