Compiling my To Do list. I'm up to 55 so far, five of which I've done while I'm been sitting here. It's going to be a long weekend.
    Better is good enough.

Huge thanks for your wonderful post Lamewolf - I'm so grateful for all your words of wisdom and will be returning to re-read and absorb all the advice and info... after the Easter holidays are over.

    Until then...G&T...
You're very welcome; if my nearly nine years' experience help you, that's brilliant. Anything else you want to know, just ask.

Mr LW has been tasked with
    • Calling @viva re his drawdown (they need to be asked for money each time he wants it - the other lot he has a pension with pay it automatically, as requested when he first retired, but apparently it is beyond the wit of @viva to do this)
    • Calling the garage to book the car's very first MoT
    • Calling the insurance people to deal with his car insurance (I have already earmarked the money)
    • Getting 6 pints of milk, 2 pats of butter and a packet of cream crackers from @ldi (yeah, I know, I know.... but I handed him close to the right money and told him if he wants "extras" he must pay for them, and to use the cash machine at the store entrance, not his debit card at the till)
I have been battling with earmarking money for various things, including the car insurance and our ISAs; I have also dealt with the car tax, which we don't actually have to pay because I get enhanced rate PIP for mobility, but we still have to go online and declare this.

I have also cleared a gazillion and one surveys, and booked a meet'n'greet visit for a 10-month-old Spaniel for later in the month.

Not a lot of actual Flying, but it's still work to keep the household together.

The Doglets have done their share - they polished their breakfast dishes to an absolute shine. :D

ETA I forgot.... I also did a WM load of Mr LW's clothes, which I left merrily swirling in the WM while the Doglets had their morning perambulation.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Hi all

In the gym at 7 this morning, working by 8.30am - very busy morning, then 3 hours in the car to take DS to hospital and back and a couple of hours waiting around in the hospital while he had his treatment. Shattered now.

Lots of paid stuff to do on job no. 2, but it might have to wait until morning. Have put a load of washing in but thats it. No idea what we are having for tea, something out of the freezer I think. DS1 has gone for a lie down, DS2 at his GFs.

DS2 agreed on an outing to school town. We had lunch, Pokemoned through the park, walked up to the town then picked up something for tea.

Visited dancegran & dancepops to weigh him and to check on them.

I am shattered after 4 days of keeping up with DGS1+2. This morning we went by train to London and followed the children's trail on "Ancient Britain" in the British Museum, with forays also into ancient Iran (they were fascinated by the video reconstruction of Persepolis) and the Enlightenment, and DD met us for lunch there. It took the boys half an hour to decide what to buy in the shop, then we went our separate ways home.

[ETA] Forgot to say that I came home from Euston, so waved to Narc0 and Lame Wolf as I passed through their local stations

I had rung DH from the train, spoken to him on his mobile and knew that he was out at that moment, but expected him to be home before me - however, I got in at 5.15 and he wasn't back until just before 6.00. It then turned out that he had been out since before lunchtime. He had taken Rosie for "a very short walk" this morning, but she must have been left alone for at least 5 hours. I am not in the least impressed with that, as I had not expected to have to take her for another walk this evening, and I don't believe he is keeping to his promise to look after her

Before we left home this morning, DGS1 helped me strip their beds and push the trundle bed back under the single (always easier if done by 2 people), so I have managed WMx3 today as well as giving the lawn a quick first trim of the year.

Tomorrow I must concentrate on reading for my essay.

Hope everyone has a good weekend x
  • Still feeling really rubbish, so sore and achy.. Trying not to get down, accepting it and being kind to myself instead of forcing myself to do things, that only ends up with my body going on full blown strike!
Both DSs have assisted me with bits today, DS1 helped by taking the horrid carpet & other items to the tip.. I made a lovely veg soup in the slow cooker, gave some to neighbour who's also struggling with being poorly.
House vacuumed and grass given a trim, really chuffed thats done as was bothering me, grateful my boys help out (without too many grumbles) when I'm finding it hard..
Spoke to carpet co regarding new carpet to be delivered and fitted (shall wait till he measures and quotes before deciding what to do first..)
DS2 did have a humongous strop when he realised I'd washed his (stinking) "white":rotfl:trainers.. Wanted to wear them out wet or not, he shouted sulked & even cried and then after all that stayed in as I said NO he was most definately not wearing them wet! He does have more than one pair, yet according to him they are all "rubbish" except for the white ones :lipsrseal:exclamati pfft... Teenagers!!
Now catching up on here and feeling please so much more got done today than I thought it would :T

  • I got to do some cooking today!

Spent the daytime pottering about/flying in the garden so it looks like a mudpatch with Potential for a change - most of the time was spent picking up bits of plastic tut and toy cars from the child next door (why is throwing things over the fence so entertaining for him? I've stopped chucking them back now, everything just goes in the bin). He's definitely old enough to know not to do it anymore.

And then the lead singer came over, looking tired and pasty faced from not eating properly for ages and then doing heavy manual work. Himself had already made the offer and had bought Quorn mince [shudder] for the occasion. I detest Quorn in all its forms and didn't want anybody to think that Himself's cooking is the standard we aspire to, so I took my chance and insisted on 'just getting it started whilst you go through those songs'.

Yeah, right. Onion chopped deftly and properly softened, garlic smashed with a tin, finely chopped and added once the onion was translucent, almost an entire tube of tomato puree, chilli flakes, chopped tomatoes, pepper, black and green olives, some Bisto granules (safe for veggies) and some dried thyme from a pot grown specimen, then the vile substance was added and bubbled for ten minutes whilst I did the pasta by chucking into boiling water, then putting the lid on and leaving for ten minutes with the heat off, which guarantees cooked but not mushy, then left Himself on (safe for veggie) cheese to grate.

It was - tolerable to pleasant. The singer seemed impressed, though - next time I'll bring out the big guns and do a couple of veggie curries and some pakoras. No nasty things from jars for me.

Still had a moment as I started grumbling to myself 'how can you cook in this mess?' because whilst it was better than usual, it still wasn't up to my expectations for preparing food.

They're out tomorrow morning for a while, so might end up doing some more gardening rather than cleaning. It's definitely better for the soul, as Himself's only involvement in the garden is to fall asleep out there with a beer in the summer, which means he doesn't make much mess out there.

Anyhow, I'm off to bed in the hope of getting to sleep before 3.30am for a change. Means I get more daylight, which always makes me feel better (at least as long as I don't get turned into a pile of ash at the first sunbeam).

    Night, all!
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Morning all. I'm planning on a day in the garden too, JoJo.

Ladies, the sun is shining for the third day in a row. I haven't done much flying or anything really, been tied up on interviews, so hope that one of them comes up trumps soon.

    Have a great day everyone.
